1/14: Ok, guys

I didn't expect to be the only post here today. After my long run yesterday, I felt the same core stress/soreness that made me vulnerable to my injury back in October. So I laid low and just did a bit of stretching.

Tomorrow: 3 miles with some strength training.

Re: 1/14: Ok, guys

Sorry Dave, I replied to the 1/13 but yeah, we have a new blogger in the group it looks like I'm very excited about that.

I'm glad to hear your taking it easy on the legs. otherwise not a whole lot going on today. I went to the gym and it was pretty lite and easy the weather is really cold and it doesn't sound like its going to get any better the rest of this week. I hope you have a great evening.

Lisa

The GF and I flew back home this morning from yesterday's Phoenix Rock n Roll event. She toughed it out through the full and I wussed in the 1/2. I'm laying low today and tomorrow and plan an easy 3 on Wed.

I put in a fairly easy 7 miles yesterday. I'm not sure I'll have time for a run today (I have to proctor and grade final exams for the next three days).

Re: 1/14: Ok, guys
I went to the gym last night for upper body weights and core work. st time at the gym in about a year I am going to ride my trainer for an hour but the blowing and drifting snow resulted in a school closure so all my kids are running around the house today. They sound occupied now so maybe it's a good time to hop on. I may have to play Tiger Woods golf on the x-box with my son while I ride to make him happy. I'm trying to mentally prepare for my 18 on Saturday. Wish me luck! Good Job guys and lisa!

Exactly! It wasn't a good race day for me. I finished 10 min slower than my goal. It was a tough week at work before the race and didn't get the rest I needed. At 2.5 miles I realized I wasn't going to have the day I wanted so I mentally backed off and tried to settle in at a more comfortable pace. I didn't want to crash at 8 miles and have a miserable finish. You try to prepare yourself as best you can for each race but sometimes you just don't have it. We'll move on and prepare for the next one in April.

The GF had been suffering from a stress fracture late last year and wasn't able to train for the full like she wanted. She ended up doing better than she had hoped for so for her she felt pretty good about her performance.

I'm doing the moab 1/2 in march and boston in april. I can't figure out what my time goals should be. Running on the ice makes it difficult to track any progress. The times on my watch certainly don't match my percieved excertion and my last 800 were done on the outdoor track in 8-12 inches of snow. I'm kind of discouraged by the whole thing but I'm plugging away anyway. Oh, my kids fell apart during my bike ride but I still got it in.

Re: 1/14: Ok, guys

Well, tonight was another cold day so I went to the gym. I did a speed workout in the pool and took part in water aerobics. There was a new instructor tonight and I wasn't very impressed, so I had to do a few extra laps to compensate. It was a good time though and definately brightened my mood.

Sounds like you all are doing great!

Jen I looked at your web page your family is beautiful. I have no idea how you fit it all in... amazing.

I look forward to hearing how tomorrow goes!

Oh, thank you Dave and Lisa. Fortunatly I've been blessed with healthy independant kids and a supportive husband. Even so, I had to become good friends with 4 a.m. and she can be a real Jekyl and Hyde. I hope tomorrow she's in a good mood but I think she's going to be bringing -6 degrees with her. Layers, layers, layers! Oh, I also live in a small-ish rural place so I don't worry too much about running by myself in the dark. It;s hard sometimes but everybody has their challenges. Good Luck.
