Well I have finally done it. I am back on this board. Does anyone out there have Dutch Omi's contact info? This new format stinks but it is what it is. Not as user friendly but this will make us all more proficient at this forum posting crap. Welcome back everyone.
Jimmy
Welcome back Mr. Jarhead!
I'm with you Nita...I hope more people follow soon. At least we've got some of us here, but the full spirit hasn't come back quite yet.
And do you think the mods here will let us go off on our random tangents like we did over there? (maybe that's why they booted us!!)
MCM Finisher 2007, 2008
CMM Finisher 2008
Goofy Challenge Finisher 2009
Pittsburgh Marathon Finisher 2009
RnR Seattle Finisher 2009
Mods? What mods? I think this will be another case of "outsourcing" the message board and the automated censors will still remain. This is an "active.com" hosted community created by the PR folks at the MCM. But I seriously doubt the PR folks will actually read it. I don't believe they're "message board-types."
All right I"m in the house, BUT I'M FRIGGIN' ******!!!! I HATE ACTIVE.COM!!! GDPOS!
Oy, don't get me started. This goes back a ways.
Anyway, greetings again everyone! I had to vent for half a sec. Feel a little better now.
Anyone else get the feeling that the powers that be are trying to break up the band? First they shut down for a week or so. Then again. Then switch sites on us. Every time we're bound to lose a couple more friends. It is sad.
Well, I'm going to bed so I can get up early and run 16 tomorrow in the frigid weather. Later!

Hi Everyone,
So Jimmy, what race are you going to tear up next? I haven't laced them up since the RnR Half last week, but I am toying with the idea of running 5 miles in the morning to make sure this hamstring is back in fighting shape. The maintenance program I will be doing for the next several months keeps me at around 15 miles per week. That should be enough to maintain my conditioning while I try out this new workout routine. Just trying to shake things up a little bit.
I sure wish this board was as functional as the old one, but that's the way it goes. Hope you are all doing well. Nita, thanks for the avatar tip. Talk to you soon.

Doing the miles so they don't have to.
I finally get in my car at the airport around midnight on Friday night. Sitting in the passenger seat is my cell phone. I go to look at all the missed calls, etc, and I see that I have a text message from Jimmy. It starts off "Jesus, it's Jimmy!" I'm so exhausted, all I can think is "no one is as happy to be themselves as Jimmy is." After I read the text with his time and age group placement from his last marathon, it suddenly occurs to me, "I think he meant to send the text to HEY-ZEUS."
Jimmy, I'm not at all offended that you only sent me your results by accident.

I feel the same way, Ron. But glad you found us anyway. Hope you made your 16 miles this morning. I"m waiting for this afternoon to do 15. It was 19 degrees when I woke up, but supposed to warm up to upper 40's and sunny, albeit with strong winds... Yuck.
Anyone have contact info for Dutch Omi, Charlie, Kat, etc...??? I guess we just wait for them to find us? I haven't heard from Jesus either, although he did post that one thing on here. WTH? Too many missing folks!
Jimmy, I just saw you're thinking Chicago as well, we could all fly back to Vermont. This could be a lot of fun. And yes, it's the Green Mountain Marahton.[/quote]My wife asked how far of a drive it is from Chicago to Vermont. She was actually thinking of taking a 10 day or so break from work and allowing me to do both. We will just have to see about finances but it appears that between my sister (Bro-in-law has an apartment in Chicago) and you guys in Vermont I might not be paying for room. I have to do Chicago or my sis will kill me so the only concern willbe the time off for my wife. I am excited but my job also plays a factor. I already told the boss so he will try ot to throw any curve balls my way. I am not sure of my Sis's accomodations (how many rooms etc) but if there is room you will definately have a place to hang your hat.
Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, I don't know how long the drive would be, maybe 10 hrs? My sister-in-law has an appt. in Chicago where we'll be staying. We'll fly back and by the time you guys would get here dinner and drinks will be ready. Let's hope this works out, it would be a blast. Now the only thing to do is register for Chicago, run it and by the time I finish, you'll have the beer cold.
Hey there Jimmy
I had just typed the reply to your post and then BAM came the the not able to post routine on our very fine previous board. In my infinite wisdom I saved it to Word and here is the reply. It took me a while to get onto this board, I had password problems, was going all over this Active shi! but I'm finally getting where I need to go. As I said in the Board Sucks thread, I'm so happy to see that most of us have made it here. So remember, the Green Mountain Marathon, a fine stay with your wife in a mountain top room and fine food and drink. My email, chwheater@gmail.com.
lauren I meant to send this to you and a few others. Jesus did not know who sent him a text the last time I sent one out so I had to include that in there for him. I am glad though to be myself.
Jimmy
Karl,
I will be running the Pensacola Marathon in Florida. I am not certain about that but about 90% sure. Don't worry Jerry I will sign up for it on the Friday before the race. Then the following week I will be in New Orleans for another unless my body yells at me. Anyways if I pull this off then it will be 2 marathons a month for the first 2 months of the year. March will be m,uch more difficult. I will have to do a third weekend in a row Little Rock, Arkansa race the weekend after Mardi Gras and I have to be in North Carolina on the Monday after ING Georgia. We will see.
Jimmy
It still sounds like bunches of fun. Remember that registration for Chicago opens on February 1st. Will log in and keep fingers crossed.
