11 miles of easy running. Today was warmer and it was nice to run in shorts and a sweatshirt.
60 is the new 35?? You guys at the crest of the boom are constantly changing the rules so you have the best of things and the rest of us will be forever trying to catch up.
You remind me of my in-laws who are in their 70s. In their age bracket the social competition is about who has the best cemetary plot. There is more status associated with having a vault versus a grave plot, and indoors is better. If you have a vault, it is best to have one 3-6' off the ground so visitors don't have to crouch or look up to see you.
We attended a family funeral recently and Mama and Tia took sometime to visit the matriarch who passed away last year. She is resting in an indoor mausoleum complex. The floor and walls are marble and the glass ceilings provide lots of light. The complex is large and there are numerous galleries connected by wide walkways.
Tia Amada insisted that I come to see her vault which was in the same complex.
"See. Here it is. This is where Pepe and I will be," she said pointing at a blank marble slab in the wall.
"Gee, it seems really nice," I said as I looked around. "This is a warm room and you've got a lot of sunlight overhead. There is a great view out the window at the end of the hall. There is organ music playing continuously and that seems restful. And the office is right across the hall in case you ever need anything." I waved my arms at the guard behind the glass doors. "Dos café (two coffees), por favor," I called to him. He waved back.
Tia smiled, pleased at the praise.
"Hey, maybe I could stay with you when my time comes," I told her.
"Well...." She was doubtful. "I don't know if there is enough room," she said indicating with her hands how the caskets are stacked.
"Oh, I think there is enough room is we all lie on our sides," I told her. "Look, there are lots of vaults with more than 2 people in them.
"OK, you can stay with us, if you like," she said happily.
