I run for...

So, the "running songs" thread cost me A LOT to download all those great songs that I didn't have.

The song that I hadn't heard of before was "I run for Life" But trusting the opinion of so many, I downloaded it without listening to it and incorporated it into the running rotation.

Well yesterday I was running, and hit a "mental" wall and wanted to stop and walk, and then that song came on and HOT DEMONS, it kicked my butt, and I thought I was gonna cry! I rethunk the reason I wanted to stop, and it pulled me over the wall...that spoken from a kinda jaded individual! :)

With that in mind, what do you run for?

I run to find my sanity.

I run to quiet the voices.

I run to hear the voices that cheer me on at the end of the race.

I run to find out what lies on the other side of my presumed threshold.

I run to prove to myself that I'm stronger than I tell myself

Re: I run for...

I run because people say I can't.

I run to be able to watch myself do things I never thought I could.

I run to be able to be in my own little peaceful world (with the appropriate aches and pains) for a little bit.

I run to have fun.

Myself to have time in thought.

To push myself to a farther limit than I did before.

To ease my mind of the clutter that accumulates in it.

and last but not least, TO HAVE FUN!

Me. It's the ONLY thing I do in my life for no-one else but me!

I run for some quiet.

I run for the challenge.

I run for the fun of it.

Re: I run for...

I run for solitude, it's just me and the trail.

I run to clear my head.

I run to feel alive!

I run because I'm a runner.

I don't mean that to sound trite. It's part of who I am.

Re: I run for...
I run because I can. I began running when I turned 50 and the first run was a Turkey Trot. I went to walk and ended up running as walking was taking too long. I ran casual/usually in 2006 running on my treadmill everyday (for a while) and ventured off to races like the Carlsbad 5000 which was done in a surprising 34:53, and about 4 other local 5K races. They were hard but gratifiying. I didn't run in 2007 (very much) and began running actively this year and my resume includes 'general treadmill workouts' at home and a handful of 5Ks, on 8K and the Coronado (Ca) 4-mile bridge run last weekend. I don't really enjoy these runs until the finish line which is common for some of us but I do like 'having something that I do'. Some people golf, some fish, some play poker, play bridge, bunko - you get it - something they do and talk about. THIS running is something that I now call my own - but lol, nobody really wants to talk to me much about it and probably because I STILL haven't lost any weight from running (and eating carefully).

Still, this is what I do: (there are two empty frames that are now filled with the races from a week ago Saturday, and the race I ran this past Sunday.

I think that now I run for me, and to fill this wall! LOL.
