Please excuse the interruption, I'm a fall marathon guy. From another regular thread, I find it useful to include a link to the prior thread for easy reference back. Here's the Week of 2/17 Thread.

Re: Spring Marathon Trainers Thread- Week of 02/24
I'll vote YES. With only a few people posting, the thread shouldn't get too long. By the way, I've had a lot of trouble logging in to Active the last couple of days - I enter my e-mail and password and it comes up with an error screen, go back to the forum, and I'm still not logged in; repeat a few times, and all of a sudden, I'm logged in.

Re: Spring Marathon Trainers Thread- Week of 02/24

It's a YES from me too. I too have not managed to log on until now, Active really do try your patience...

Wow! Sounds like a tough session on Sunday Ewart! And getting up at 4.00am to run, you are showing some serious dedication. Likewise Beatfreq. I'm still on the early part of the learning curve with this Marathon training lark, and I'm starting to get the picture from you guys that there's no substitute for miles. If only my IT band would get with the program!

My week last week took a bit of a dip due to a ill advised weights session while away on work (I don't normally go to the gym). This meant my legs were trashed over the weekend due to stupidly doing 200 pound leg presses - they felt fine at the time but the payback was for the next 2 days - a lesson learnt!

Mon/Tues - Out of action due to ITBS stiffness in the knee.

Weds - approx. 6.1 miles @ 7:29p

Thurs - 4 miles untimed

Fri - 7 miles treadmill incl. 5 x 2min at 6:05p

Sat - 7 miles EZ with 5 x 1k @ 7.15p (first ever track session for my girlfriend who is running the half I'm doing this coming weekend)

Sun - 10.1 miles, 4 at 9:00p & 6 @ 8:00p

Total: 34.2 miles

Well it's the Reading half-marathon for me this coming Sunday so I'm hoping to get a pb from that to show that I'm on target for the London, fingers crossed.

Re: Spring Marathon Trainers Thread- Week of 02/24
Ewart, are you getting this error screen when you try to log in?

The system has recovered from an error.

A log of this error has been created.

We have created an error report in the system's event log to help us improve our system. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

I've been getting that for a while now. Then when I tried to go back to the coolrunning screen, it appeared that I wasn't logged in, because the "Log in to Reply" buttons were still displayed - instead of the "Reply" buttons. But depending on what screen I'm on, refreshing my browser or navigating to a new page seems to replace the "Log in to Reply" buttons with "Reply" buttons, indicating I am actually logged in. Going back to the home page - www.coolrunning.com is misleading, because the "Log In" button is always there - even if you are already logged in - no matter how many times you refresh the browser.

Ewart Harris wrote:Fellow Posters. I am afraid that it does not seem as if this is going to work. It took me four day to navigate my way back to this thread. It seem as if there is no direct way to get back to the coolrunning threads. If anyone is able to get here then post and let me know what you guys are thinking about doing. my email addres is ewartharris@hotmail.com So you can email me and possibly we can join some other board or move over to the regular running board on this webite. That seem easier to get to.

Hi All,

Add me to the list of those who have been having problem with login, although I always seem to get in. I feel that I've been very patient with the Active site, but have just about had it. If you haven't checked out RunningAhead.com it is worth looking at. They have good running log and several other nice twists. One nice feature is that they allow you to create your own user groups and it is very simple to do.

It's not that I'm trying to drive away business. I have been a lot more patient than most since the transition from CoolRunning. I will probably continue to post here on the 50 plus thread unless it dies completely. It seems to be on life support now.

I'd be interested in joining your group either here or elsewhere except that I am not planning a marathon until October. I've been lurking for a while now and you guys seem like a very good fit. Anyone who goes out for 10 more after what you went through is my kind of runner (""I just put some Vaseline on them put on a fresh set of digs stuck my hands in my wet soggy mittens and step back outside and did the last 10 miles of a 24 mile run.") :D

I ran a 3:09 in December, which was my first since '93. I'm hoping to get down close to 3 hours in the next one, but would be happy with anything under 3:05. Even though it's going to be a while before the marathon my weekly mileage has been in 50's-60's so far this year.

Maybe I'll drop you a message at your email.

Jim

Hi Guys,

I'm quite happy to resurrect this thread at Runningahead. Let me know and I will sort out a login (Roth Runner).

Welcome aboard Jim! Great to have you on the thread, I've always really enjoyed hearing about your races on Cool Running and am sure you'll be there or therabouts when it comes to slaying 3hrs in October....

Re: Spring Marathon Trainers Thread- Week of 02/24

My week last week included my pre-marathon half marathon which resulted in a nice personal best. The conditions were pretty good, a bit windy but the majority of the course is quite sheltered so it didn't really matter. I had 3 goals before the race, sub 1:25, consistent splits, and to finish strong (sub 20 for the last 5k), and I managed them all, so I was very happy with that.

I need to pick the mileage up a bit this week as the last couple have drifted down into the mid 30's, my IT band problems seem to be minimal at present, so I'm hoping to up it to the mid 40's this week, including my second 20 miler.

It's 5 & 1/2 weeks to the London & I'm off to South Africa on Saturday for 3 weeks! Bad timing (the trip was confirmed before my marathon entry was), but I'll have to keep my training up while I'm there. I'm on safari for a few days next week, so I suspect running may be out of the question, but we'll see! Warm weather training for my first marathon - I feel quite the pro! :p

My last week:

Weds - 10.5 miles @ 7:40p (with 3 x 1.18m laps @ 6:17, 6:22, 6:24)

Thurs - 4.1 miles @ 7:00p

Fri - 4 miles @ 8:40p

Sat - 3.65 miles @ 7:30p

Sun - Reading Half Marathon, 1:24:45 (average 6:28p)

Total: 35.35 miles

I hope your training is all going well state-side. Let's try and keep this thread alive somewhere, if not here, on runningahead......
