Arne Larrson had the first of his 22 pacemakers implanted October 6, 1958, being both the first human to get one (it worked just 3 hours then) and most likely the record holder for most pacemakers (22) and electrode systems (5) when he died of an unrelated malignancy on December 28, 2001.
