Interested in volunteering for the Girl Scouts as a hiking lead/guide?

Hello, everybody:

My name is Claudia Tori and I work as a volunteer recruiter at the Girl Scout Council of Orange County. We have an excellent volunteer opportunity for adults 18 or older who enjoy the outdoors, especially backpacking/ hiking, and will like to help a group of girls 11 through 17 years old.

Please, look at the posting below  and contact me at volunteers@gscoc.org if interested. We also have positions available for guides and aides. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and your time!

High Adventure Teens - Backpacking/Hiking Lead

Adventure! Adventure! Adventure! If backpacking/hiking in the outdoors is your idea of fun and adventure, we are looking for you. Share your energy and love of the outdoors with Girl Scouts ages 11-17 as part of our High Adventure Teens program.

As a Backpacking/Hiking Lead, you will work with staff and other volunteers to lead girls as they plan and undertake their Backpacking/Hiking adventures. Activities can include but are not limited to primitive, overnight, coastal, urban, and minimal impact (leave no trace) backpacking, and/or day excursions, activities with walking clubs, and local park hikes.

The Backpacking/Hiking Lead's role is to work much like a Troop Leader, assisting the girls with their High Adventure Teens activities. We also would like your help establishing partnerships with community groups that would enhance the girls' activities.

A basic backpacking course and Level 2 First Aid certification are required for this volunteer position.
