Nike and Apple to make iPod compatible with gym equipment

Check out this release from CNN.com, Nike, Apple bring iPod to gym near you . As techy as this sounds, it might be a really cool feature for data tracking efforts. What do you think?

I think it's a good idea.  It certainly shouldn't hurt to make it easier for people to track their workouts.  But what I really liked was the picture that came with the article; it looked like a group of headphone wearing cultists worshipping Zoolander.

Honestly I think it's sad. You don't need to wear Nike shoes or have an Apple I-pod to track your workout data. Sure it's cool and trendy but the Nike+ system is not the end all be all. I love technology for technology sake but I get discuraged when if you want this you need to wear Nike shoes and own an I-pod.
