Re: Sunday run

Try doing some very easy stretching tonight. Don't push anything though and do them slowly; if you feel a twinge, stop that stretch immediately. If you can walk a little tonight (even if just around the house/yard), go for it; just a few minutes is fine. Easy walking until your legs feel ready for a run is good (minimum 3-4 days, more is absolutely fine, listen to your body). Your first couple runs should be notably slower than your norm; the first one maybe 5k or less. If you do cycling, it's a great recovery exercise (give yourself at least a couple of rest days first though); if cycling's not your thing or you don't feel compelled to exercise at that point, don't worry about it.

Congrats on the group podium finish! Way to bronze!! I've never done that!

Way to go Nita!  And you're feeling OK and ready to go for CMM!  Of course, you might have had that time at MCM if you hadn't kept taking potti breaks.  I know I'm not ready for a good time at CMM, 4:30 if things go well.  But I'll work on all that over the summer and maybe we'll all be good for 4:00 at MCM.

Thanks, Lauren!  I'll do my best to kick Jerry's butt, but I can't make any promises

Courir, thanks so much for the suggestions.  I printed them out and will follow them to a T, especially the "don't do anything for days" part!

Len, um, I didn't say I felt okay   I imagine I'll be right about there with you at CMM.  And guess what?!  No potty breaks today at all!  No wonder I did good...

Somebody stop the presses!

Holy **** Nita!!!!!  That is freaking daggone outstanding Devil Dog!!!  At this point I am kneeling and bowing down to you, you freaking rocked!!!  I am super excited for you, Brenda even had to lean over and read what I was so excited about....LOL   Now I gotta start training harder so I can at least beat either you or Jerry on my next marathon, which will be San Diego.

U still running next Saturday?  Let me know when/what time and I'm game.  I was out there today for 16 and the first 12 were good, probably under 9 min pace but then the heat and humidity got to me and I got lazy and started walking/running and finished 16 in 2:38 which I guess is about a 10 min mile avg pace.  I love that park, I saw at least two Ferraris, a Ford GT, a RR, couple of Maseratis, and a couple of Bentley's, then of course tons of Jag, Bmers, and Benz....

Brenda did 3 with Chachis and waited for me to finish, she even gave me a high five on one of my laps when I passed her, that was cool

Anyways, so happy for you congratulations and go kick everybody's a$$ but Jerry's at CMM....   (Hey, it's still a girls vs boys thing right?)

Thanks, bro!

I was starting to get beat up here ... everybody's gunnin' for me. :-p   But no one says, "I'm going to beat Jimmy."  (cause that would just be silly.)

4:26 on a "training" run.! I know you are happy. That's a great accomplishment.

Grumble, grumble.  One run I'm not familiar with that part of the city, but the other two are on flat parts. But Pittsburgh has great hills for hill training and lots of potential for tough workouts. Too bad they didn't have at least one of those, but if anyone comes here I'll be sure to give you a hard route

I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Re: Sunday run

My only conversation with Franco Harris came after a great hilly run in 1978; he was even wearing an Allegheny shirt during that era of their fabulous runners.......

Re: Sunday run

My only conversation with Franco Harris was when I said "Pardon me" and got out of the way of him and three of his teammates on a State College sidewalk one evening.  (It was either that or get run over.)

Awesome Run Nita! And congrats on your 3rd place finish!

Amazing that you still finished that well with the walking/slow pace the last four miles.  You took the approach as a training run and it gave you double benefits...A great confidence booster and ...You know you can kick but at CMM!  under 4 is in your sights!
