Keep it coming, guys. I think it makes my legs hurt less ![]()
(Thanks, Holly.)
Just keep Craig's advice handy. We don't want any limping at CMM.
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.

Wow, Nita, way to kick some *** on your long run! 4:26, BTW, beats my first marathon time done on Chicago's flat course back when I was a mere 30 year old! You really will break 4 hours someday - just keep it going!
'97 Chicago Marathon 4:26:30
'07 Marine Corps Marathon 4:00:50
'08 Wineglass Marathon 3:53:29
'09 Illinois Marathon 3:46:22

Ron, I've been trying to tell these people thay have a 4 hour marathon in them - Nita, Jerry, Kat. Now we just need to get them to believe it.

Did you tell me that?! Nu-uh!! Len you just made my day!! Honestly, seeing what Nita has done has been SO inspirational! I've been thinking all morning about what I can change to push myself to see what I'm capable of. I sent Nita an e-mail about what her secret was and she referred me to you for advice!
Oh man oh man, I LOVE this board.
I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Okay, now I'm starting to feel invincible. Y'all might want to slack off before I do something stupid.

Thanks, Ron and Len!
Do something stupid like break 4 at MCM with me?!

Kat, I don't think I've said it specifically to you before now. Your training paces have led me to believe you can. I remember being a little surprised at MCM that you didn't go with a faster pace group. And I figured, OK, first marathon, she's being conservative. Follow your training plan, work on it gradually and it may very well be there in 2008.

Well, okay, that's stupid enough! Let's do it! With Kevyn and Len in tow.
I know that I'VE said you're sub-4 before. I thought you were going to be in the sub-4 tryout group at CMM, remember? Wonder if Jimmy's still up for pacing us for the first 20 miles... When is that boy coming back??
Len- I had no idea what to expect out of myself or a marathon. I'm glad I started with a pace group but may have gone out a little too hard. I've had some pretty solid 10Ks were I outdid what I thought was possible for myself, but I need to work on translating that to longer distances.

Woohooo! Team stupid! (We'll work on a better name)
I'm not going to be in any group at CMM.... I'm going to be curled in the fetal position on the floor of my condo surrounded by cups of coffee and pages and pages and pages of articles to read for papers I need to write. Final tally is three 15-page papers plus three clinic reports all due in 24 hours. Sob. I would SO rather be running a marathon. Or be sticking myself in the eye with a fork. Ok, that last one was just melodrama ![]()

It would be really hard to run a marathon with a fork in your eye. We'll be thinking of you, Kat! I'll run a couple of miles for you and then drink a beer or three for you afterwards!

Is that a secret code? Are you trying to tell me that's how you place top 3 in your division?! I'll do it! And thanks for being a dear and promising to put a few back for me
Make sure it's good beer after those fast miles you'll run for me!

I want to be like you someday!
No, you don't. You want to be like YOU, only running faster.
Thanks, Lee and Omi ![]()
