Shoe Dilemna

I'm a beginner runner and have ran for about 2 months. (We're in week 9 of c25k) I've been running with my good ole walmart tennis shoes that I bought last year or whenever. So, my friend buys me a pair of running shoes that we know fit me and everything. I put them on and start walking for my warm up and they kill the outter part of my foot. Do I need to break them in or should they be okay now and I should return them? My 5k is in one week and I don't know if I do indeed need to break them in or just get a different pair. Help please!

Re: Shoe Dilemna

Hi Caramay,

I am by no means an expert at shoes or running, but I've heard a few times that you should be personnaly fitted for your running shoes by a knowledgeable sales person. There are many different brands and many different styles within each brand, and your foot anatomy and running style can make a big difference as to which shoe you should get. I would return the shoes and get fitted for something that works for your foot. You'll probably pay more than you did at Walmart, but if it will keep you from being in pain it will be worth it. Good luck!
