Any Groups Starting Week 2 of C25k Monday April 21?

Hello!

I started the C25K last year - our group was the Junebugs - and an ankle injury did me in at the end of W3. I want to start up again, but am starting with W2, so if there are any groups starting W2 on Monday, April 21, please let me know... I'd love to join you!

:p

Thanks!
Christine

Well, I tried to start Week 1 this past week, but only managed to do the first day. So I'll be starting Week 1 again on Monday, the 21st, if that's close enough for you! I'd love to have some virtual accountability!

Re: Any Groups Starting Week 2 of C25k Monday April 21?

I have tried the podcasts in the pasts, but I wasn't too crazy about the music, so I ended up making my own for this time around. It helped a lot to have my own music to run to and to not have to keep looking at a watch. I found the instructions on this message board somewhere ... I think it was under a discussion called "make your own C25K podcast" or something of that nature if you want to search for it. Basically all I did was make a playlist and adjust the stop times for every song.

Also, I just posted a reply in another discussion for people who started week 1 this past week (the 14th) - maybe we can all combine into a larger group. Anything that makes me more motivated to get my butt out there running again is great.

I'm starting week two on Sunday, and I'm using the podcasts also. And while I agree with the last poster that some of the techno music is awful, I'm using that as encouragement to go on to the next week! (I'm assuming that the music changes... oh Lord, PLEASE tell me that the music changes!!)

Anyway, I enjoyed Week #1 but for some shin pain on Day #3. I may do some shoe-shopping before week two.

Yes, I'm supposed to finish Week One tomorrow. So, I will begin Week 2 on Monday. I just discovered the podcasts and used it for my 2nd workout. It helped not having to keep checking my watch. I'm wanting to tone up and lose about 30 lbs.

Started week two today (Sunday). If you were finishing the week one runs with some energy left, you should have no problem with week two. I didn't find the 90 second runs to be a problem AT ALL, which is kind of amazing given that I was panting after 60 seconds during W1D1.

My shins are still giving me trouble around the 3rd & 4th sets of runs, but they start to get better by the 6th. This suggests to me that maybe I'm not warming up and stretching enough. (?) Asics Gels are on sale at Kohl's for $60... I've heard they are a good shoe for a lot of beginning runners. I may go try them out, since I'm still not sure I'm ready to commit $150 to this hobby.

Good luck to every one else starting week two...

(PS... I think the week two music is much less obtrusive! :) )

Starting Week 1 (again) either tomorrow or Tuesday (I haven't decided if I'm going to be a Mon-Wed-Fri or a Tues-Thurs-Sat person yet ...). Anyone want to name our motley little group of Week 1 & Week 2 peeps? April Fools maybe?

I plan on starting Week 2 tomorrow. I was in two minds whether to repeat Week 1 or not, but will attempt Week 2 schedule tomorrow and see how it goes. FYI, to help me with the timing, I ended up pruchasing a Timex Ironman watch from Walmart. It goes for $44. Thought I might as well get it and avoid having to look at the watch again and again. It worked well for me in Week 1.

Re: Any Groups Starting Week 2 of C25k Monday April 21?
I completed my Week One on Saturday and started Week 2 this morning. Somehow the 4th running interval was hardest. Anyway, the workout was doable without it being too difficult. As I was jogging (can't really say I run), I was thinking about doing it for those upcoming weeks of longer minutes - 5, 8, 10, etc. That really seems daunting right now. I hope the gradual buildup works for me! Any tips on how much water you should drink prior to the workout? Do you eat anything? I had 1/2 of a banana this morning.

Did my W2D1 today. Was able to finish it, but struggled a bit. W1 I ran on grass in a soccer field. Today I decided to run roadside. In my second 90 second run, I hit a slight gradient on the road and it literally took the wind out of me. I ran the rest of the intervals either on flat or a very slight down gradient and they went fine. I think I am going to go back to the soccer field rest of this week. This way I will be able to get a better assessment of whether I feel an improvement last week.

Hi all!! I started W2 last night (Monday) and things went pretty good. I used to be a pretty active runner, then life got in the way. I am hoping to get back on track, and drop about 20 pounds in the process. I'd love to join if you'll have me!!

I saw a few of you mentioned about podcasts for the runs...where did you find them at? I'm always looking for new music to make the runs go by faster.

Dawn, if you go to iTunes and search for Couch to 5K, you will get a few results. The ones by Robert Ullrey are the ones I use and I think many others do as well. It helps the time go by more quickly and I don't have to keep up with the time changes on my watch.
