Jerry, sometimes I don't know about you dude...LOL Jaimito is actually basically just like Jimmy but in Spanish. It's the diminutive of James.
Oh, easy for the Mexican kid to explain. . . ![]()
I'm glad I had a public education. Those two semesters of Spanish in high school didn't teach me much.
Okay a bit about my roots. I am the seventh kiddo of the same two parents. My father is Billy Ray and mother is Alma Jean. The oldest is Billy Ray Jr. but he goes by Willay. My siters came next and are Carol June, Cathy Jean, and Sharon Kay. Wait of 10 years or so and bam here comes accident number 2, oldest brother was number 1. They named him Jerry Don followed by a playmate named Joe Bob. THen in 3rd place was me the youngest Jimmy Dale. Now my parents are simple people and named us what we were to be called not the more professional names of William Ray, Katherine Jean, Jeremiah Don, Joseph Robert, James Dale. Needless to say we come from the country and my father has never worn a white collar.
I used to get mad when someone would call me James or ask if my real name was JAmes when filling out applications and official paperwork. I am usually good with names but yesterday I goofed and called Jeremiah, Gerald in one of my threads. I have already edited it but wanted to let people know where it all started.
Jesus in my high school spanish class the teacher called me Diego and said that was the closest thing to Jimmy she could come up with because I would not allow Jaime. Now Jaimito would have been good.
It has to be the taper madness that causes us all to disclose things like this and call people by th wrong name and such things.

Amazingly insightful, Jimmy!
Do your folks refer to all of your siblings by first and middle name? I know this is somewhat common in the south and even often shortened to just the two initials. For us Yankees, we were often referred to as "little brat", "sh!t head", "rug rat", and "hey you".
Well heck, Jimmy Dale, with you needing to remember two names for everyone instead of one, I can understand where you'd get confused here or there on a stressful, busy day (and really, we have two names to remember here too, aliases and real names)
I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Funny, except for my parents, we all have a first and a middle name. Mine is Jesus Magdiel.

Names are funny. Spanish translations can be weird. What's Magdiel in English?? I've never heard that. When my kids were in Gifted/Talented classes in elementary, they always called them their Spanish name. Reid became Rico. So we called him Rico Suave
Damon of course became Diablo, which he loved. And it was so fitting...
That southern thing is true. My real name is Donita (yeah, I know, shut up, my mom was 19 and on drugs or something), but she would call me NitaLyn, like one word. And my daughter is often SarahJade, rather than just Sarah. But Jimmy, I think your siblings' names take the prize for most Southern
Magdiel has no English translation that I know of. I only know that it does come from the Bible, he was some kind of commander of an army or something, I found it once but I can't remember where.
Screw Jane Fonda!!!
My dad had it made. He used to say that the ladies called him Sweet WIlliam and the guys called him Wild Bill. And I do challenge anothe family to try and claim the title of the most HillBilly. My parents still have an old car in the front yard. My mother still jars her own fruits (picked form the trees and vines) and she still uses lard to cook with. I love them but I wish they would let go of some of their upbringing. LOL

Jimmy- When we were down in the mountains of North Carolina last week, we noticed an average of 3 cars in front of every trailer home ![]()
Chris' family is from Kansas, they're full of Sarah Beth's and Kathy Jane's. Chris' mom (Kathy Jane) stopped it with her kids (just Christopher and Alyssa) but that generation seemed to miss their Midwest roots and now around family call Alyssa "LyssyLou" ![]()
