How many kcal in popped popcorn?

Ok, popcorn is a major staple of mine, and since I eat so much of it, I thought I better figure out how many kcalories it has. I cook it on the stove in my Whirley-Pop with about 1 Tbsp oil. On the bag, it gives the amt of calories of the kernels, but logic dictates that alot of that energy is used up in the popping process. So what is the end result? How many kcalories are in 1 cup of popped popcorn (negating the calories from the oil)?

Re: How many kcal in popped popcorn?

I love popcorn too!

I looked up the caloric content in air-popped popcorn, since I presume it would be oil-free. According to calorie-count.com, there are 31 calories in a cup of air-popped popcorn.

Since it's right there, I also looked up the calorie count for oil-popped popcorn: 64 calories.

Hope that helps!
