The Ojai - SoCal's Tennis Gem

Anyone who's ever been to The Ojai knows what a good time this gem of SoCal tennis is. And if you haven't been, you're missing out on not just the largest amateur tournament, but a one-of-a-kind community event.

The non-profit Ojai Valley Tennis Club produces The Ojai by the concerted efforts of over 600 volunteers. The 150 required tennis courts are made available by local schools, clubs and private residents, making this 108-year-old event a true community effort.

The Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament is the home of the annual Pac-10 mens, womens and doubles individual championship matches. Libbey Park, in the heart of Ojai, is the venue for the finals of all divisions of The Ojai, including Div. III West Regionals, Community and Independent Colleges, Junior and CIF events and the Open.

Have you been to The Ojai? How was it?

Re: The Ojai - SoCal's Tennis Gem
I hit the Ojai every year. It's more than a good time.

I played college tennis and live an hour away from Ojai, but more than that I go for the tennis spirit that exists during the tournament. That and since becoming a parent, I'm always interested in tennis community events that will help foster an enjoyment of the sport. We pack up the car, make a weekend out of it and really enjoy ourselves.

Best Place to Stay: Blue Iguana Inn - poolside villas with kitchens
Best Restaurant: Boccali's Italian
Best tennis action: Pac 10 championships - don't miss it
Must see: Hearst Castle, inspiration for Xanadu in Citizen Kane
