Which feat do you think is the hardest to accomplish in a softball game?
A.) A complete game shutout by a pitcher
B.) 10 + strikeouts by a pitcher in a game
C.) Perfect day at the plate (i.e. 4 for 4 batting)
D.) Hit a home run
I personally believe that notching 10 or more strikeouts in a single game is the most admirable. It takes great skill and precision, and also great concentration and endurance. Chances are that the pitcher has at least three or four stellar pitches in her repertoire and can handle the rigors of pitching long distance while batters come up to bat 2-4 times in a game and can pick up tendencies. To be able to accomplish this is simply outstanding.

I think a complete game is harder since the field is so compact the chance for errors is way higher
What about pitching a perfect game? I've seen plenty of shutouts, 10+ strike out games, 4 for 4 and homeruns, but the true rare gem is no runs, no hits and no errors. 21 up, 21 down. Now that is the hardest feat of all!
Definitely complete game shutout. It takes a variety of pitching skill to stay in the game, and make sure no one gets any runs. Plus, unless you are a fantastic groundball pitcher you will come close to 10 strikeouts anyway in a complete game shutout.
I think pitching 2 no hitters in a row and then in the 4th game (5inning game called score 23-0) another no hiter
pitcher from danbury high scool ( danbury ct.) 1st one a hit batter only runner
2nd game perfect

I think that going 4 for 4 at the plate is quite a feat. It takes great skill to "outsmart" the pitcher to get four pitches to get a base hit at four different times at bat. After the first couple times, the pitcher (and coaches) start seeing your weak spots and they will aim for those every time.
Wow. Congrats to Angela! That's impressive.
My daughter pitches in Iowa for high school and also a travel team from Nebraska. In her 2008 summer season for IA high school as a Freshman. She Started 29 games as the pitcher and had 29 complete games as the pitcher. Of those she had 14 Shut Outs, 2 Perfect Games, 18 games with 10+ strikeouts, 1 7 inning game with 19 k's and 1 6 inning game with 17 K's. She also went 4 for 4 at the plate in one game and 5 for 5 in another. She only hit 1 home run. So I guess I have to vote for the home run. But for her team, I think there were more home runs than perfect from the plate.
