I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes...You too Jerry! ![]()
I sweat a lot so I don't mind getting wet but I dislike running in wet socks and shoes. So for CMM I only had one bag with me and my shoes were more important than anything else getting wet, so where ever I stood waiting, I put the plastic bag over my shoes. The lady I ran with had a good tip. She buys a cheap umbrella from the Dollar store and when the race is ready to start she just hands it to a volunteer or spectator to have and use. A good investment of a dollar.
Have a great race this weekend everyone!
I'm thinking you might break 3:50 Charlie.
Frederick is a tough, hilly race from what I've been told. More hill than CMM. Those living in pancake-land VA might have a bit of a challenge. So if you find yourself hitting 4 hours, I'll understand, Charlie. ![]()
Great tip on the umbrella! I'd rather not deal with the rain but we don't have control over that!
Everyone should be carbed up and ready to hit the sack now. Go out and get some PR's!
You know...I think I should forfeit my two other NYC and Boston Qualifications based on my inability to break 4 hrs at CMM and should instead give them to Jerry since he beat me so badly. Heck just because I'm 52 shouldn't be an excuse either.
On another note...my legs haven't felt too fresh on my two training runs this week. So Frederick should be interesting. It starts 6:30 Sunday Jerry...you should come out and coach me! I'll buy you some adult beverages after! ![]()

I actually thought about driving up to Frederick to cheer you guys on.
If the drugs and sleep don't overwhelm me, I might!
But hey, I'll take the BQ. Just to look at though. I plan on earning my ticket to Hopkinton.
Charlie, quit playin' . . . you know you're going to run at least a 3:59. ![]()
You're 52? I thought you were much older. You should be faster. LOL!
Seriously, Charlie, you rock! If I can run like you when I'm 52, I'll be one happy camper!
One more for Frederick this weekend... I'm running the half. This will be my first experience w/ Frederick. Good luck Ron, Charlie, and Jay. Are you running the half or full?
I've been away from this board for a while, but revisiting after just registering for my third MCM.
Welcome back, X-runner. . . don't be a stranger and feel free to jump in any time. ![]()
LOL! ![]()
Yup...I think I might be able to squeeze out a 3:59:59! ![]()
Sir Yes sir.

Ok I couldn't figure out if this 4 hr thing is legit are if you are guys are messing around. A friend of mine is pacing the 4 hr group - not like you know her or will even see her - just thought I would chime in. Have a good run. We'll be hoping the rain isn't as crazy as they are predicting. Good luck!

They're goofing. Charlie's a 52-year-old hot speed demon. Puts the 30-year-olds to shame. Isn't that right, Charlie? Good luck tomorrow!

I'm running the Full Maryland Double this year! I think you'll enjoy Frederick; it's a nice little city and the marathon seems to be well sponsored. The half should be plenty fast as all the hills are packed into miles 16-20 of the course.
Good luck and enjoy the expo tomorrow!
OK, runners should be asleep and getting ready for their races. I don't know if any of the races have runner tracking but I'll check in the morning. Of course we can't track Immer because I'm betting his parents didn't actually name him "Immer" and we don't have a bib number.
Good luck to all weekend racers. Looking forward to the race results later today.

Alright, it's 3:41 EDT and I'm up and finishing off a bagel with peanut butter and sliced banana. The internet is a great way to kill time before I need to head out...
