is this realistic?

I just started the C25K program yesterday. My plan is to do a day or two a week on my treadmill, and one outdoors (I have two small children, so sometimes the treadmill is the only thing doable)

I'm terribly out of shape and verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow. It took me 30min to go 1.6m yesterday doing the week 1 schedule.

Anyway, there is a short 2 mile race in my town June 14th. Is it realistic to think that if I'm doing the program 3-4 times a week I can make it through without stopping? I'm not concerned about time, I'm as slow as a tortoise right now, but I'd love to think I could actually make it through the race at my ever so slow jog. Then once I can get that under my belt, I can work on speed.

Welcome to active.com!
I think that if you stay focused on your goal of finishing, and don't worry about the time, you can do it. The times will come later. Let us know if you have any more questions or comments.
Good luck and happy running!

I think that is a very realistic goal! We all need goals and that race might help keep you on track on the days you don't feel like doing your scheduled run ...because you know you have to keep it up in order to be ready for that race. Keep at it and keep posting.

Absolutely! I started the couch to 5k training about two months ago and ran my first 5k today! I did awesome- finished under 30 minutes and working towards my goals:) You can do anything and when you have those bad days when the run feels terrible (yesterday btw was my last hard run before the race) and you push through- oh, it's amazing! Good luck!
