Easy question, I have 2400 miles (2yrs) under my belt now and have upped my mileage again. Hoping to put 2000 miles on the clock this year. My original shoes were mizuno wave elixer, but they gave sciatic pain eventually. Reebok DMX ultra were too cushy and allowed foot motion, great walkers not runners. Other than those two pairs I have been thru 12 pairs of NIMBUS 8's. No blisters, great shoe but in the 160-180 mile range I start to feel the sniggling aches that tell me the shoes are getting worn out. I change shoes and am all better for another month or so.
I moved up to the Nimbus 9's this past pair and hoped that the would last longer. After 120 miles I started to blister deeply at the fron of my arch. I switched back to my 8's for a couple of weeks. All better, put the 9's back on for a 10k practice run and blisters were back in a heartbeat. I had not read that the 9's had more arch, but that is all I can figure.
Now I hear they have short cycled the 9's and have launched the Nimbus 10's. I am wondering what other shoes are out there equivalent to the nimbus. I like the responsiveness but need a highly cushioned shoe. The kensei 2's are supposed to be longer lived but the 165.00 price tag is staggering if they only last me 200 miles.
I am 175lb 34yr old male runner who has a PR of 20:08 5k, 1:37 HM and a 3:44 Marathon that I am trying to revise to the 3:20's this year.
Of course cost is a factor but if I could get 300-400 out of any pair it would be worth it in the long run.
