Ford Ironman 70.3 race in Cancun, Mexico

Has anyone done this race before? If so, how was the race course? Flat I am assuming.

I am doing the race in Can Cun. This will be my first half and I am looking for a good 18 week training plan for an average to above average athlete.

The bike course was changed back to its original course last year so I don't know. I did the race the first year the bike course had to be change because of the remnants of the hurricane from the year before. It was pretty much flat. It was very well organized.

Oh yeah, it can be really nice and hot, and humid.

check trifuel.com beginnertriathlete.com and trinewbies.com for some generic plans. but I'd also look at friel's book triathlete training bible to develop your own plan (if you don't have the $ for a coach)

All you have to worry about is the heat, and the humidity. You will need to go there well in advance if you don't live in a similar environment. It's Hurricane Season. Last year we got a couple 45 minute bursts of rain, but chances are it will be blazing hot this year. The course is a piece of cake.
