C25K in Atlanta anyone?

I live in Atlanta, not far from downtown. Actually, people who don't live in or near Atlanta would say I do live downtown but I actually live in a neighborhood called Candler Park, near Little 5 Points.

I am currently 43lbs overweight but I WAS 70lbs overweight. I lost 27lbs between March 1 and now doing Nutrisystem and cycling to work everyday (3.5 miles each way - not a lot but more than I was doing before which was 0).

At this point I feel pretty fit at the level of activity I've been doing. So, I would like to get back into running. The last time I ran regularly was about 8 years ago. I used to actually be a very fit person but I allowed adulthood to get in the way (career, parenthood, etc). So, I call myself a re-beginner. I am also worried about my joints since I am heavy. I know I should take it easy and allow my joints to adapt to a new activity. And that's why I've chosen to do the Couch to 5K program.

I have a half-hearted committment from my husband (a very fit man, by the way, who did not allow adulthood to interfere with his health) to do it with me. I know this means he will skip training sessions.

So, I was wondering if there is anyone in Atlanta who is interested in this program and would like a partner?

Re: C25K in Atlanta anyone?
We sound alot alike. I actually was in the Army several years ago and was very fit. Since that time I allowed life to alter things. My husband is still in the Army and very active. Due to my job I had to undergo some rigorous training that allowed me to get somewhat back into being able to run comfortable at a 10 min mile pace. In January 07, I weighed 230lbs on my own I've dropped down to 180lbs by the most simplest thing...(putting out more that I put in!!) I've tried every diet in the book but I've maintained a constant effective weight loss by pushing back from the table, eating cleaner and exercising. I do wish my weight loss would be faster but I'm learning patience. I have to realize I didn't put it all on in a day and it won't come off that easy. I keep saying to myself this is years of abuse. I want to build on where I have gotten to and don't want to fall back into the doing nothing rut. I work downtown but I live in McDonough. Send me an email we can discuss further.
