Hello all. Any suggestions for a training program to prepare to be one of 6 members of an 11 mile open water relay? The format is as follows:
- 1 x 30 min leg each
- 1 x 15 min leg each
- 1 x 10 min leg each until we're done
I'm a solid swimmer in terms of technique (swam competitively in high school 20 years ago but haven't swam much since) but am out of shape. I can swim for 10-15 minutes in a pool without stopping and could do some reps but pretty much need to start from scratch.
I have 2 months to do whatever I can and will not realistically train more than 4 days a week. I'm not trying to set a world record just want to enjoy the swim and swim as fast as I can.
Anyone seen a good training plan for long, open water swims?
