Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18
Hi Everyone,
It's been about 2 weeks since I posted. I see there are several new people..."hi new people". I had been in a blah mood about the training for the tri and running in general. My bunion has been acting up and it really hurts to run so I think I will have to stick w/only 5K trainings for now...that is the distance in the tris I'm doing so that will do. I'm really nervous about the first tri in June...and that one is much shorter (the swim and bike portion) than the one in August. I've been lazy about the training but I'm ready to give it my all... Today is the swim and I'm going to concentrate on my form rather than time to try to relax during the swim. And since the beginning of the year, my weight has been fluctuating ...more on the gain part but I'm now at the weight I was exactly one year ago...which still gives me a 24 lb loss since Jan 2007.... I am trying to lose only about 10-11 more lbs.

Happy - Good job at the WI... any loss is good.

Michelle - That video was adorable

Mel - Great RR and I loved the pics.

kwill104 - Any tips on the tri thing would be great

Life - I read the post last week that you decided to train for a Tri... Yay!

Have a GREAT day everyone!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18

Checking in before things get hectic.

Happy - Congrats on the WI results. Yes meetings can be quite helpful. Maybe in the fall I'll get back to them. During training I focus more on that they WW. Over the years I find that I am just merely donating to WW during the training periods.

Last week wasn't too bad overall. My run on Saturday was not good. My LSD run on Sunday was very very good. Again to follow my training feel free to check my blog http://s156583641.onlinehome.us/www/tim/. This weeks post you might find interesting.

Hopefully I can keep with the posts this week.

Have fun this week.

Tim

Hi everyone. Hope all the moms out there had a great day yesterday. My DH and 3 DDs and myself went to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I t was so good and they let me order from the kids menu. My 5yr old dd scored in her soccer game yesterday and she said it was for mother's day, how cute. Any way congrats to everyone who raced this weekend. I am now running three miles 8 min. running and 1min. walking. I'm pretty sure I don't need the 1min. walking, but everyone said start slow. Talk to you all soon. I loved the pictures of the races, my kids love seeing other kids on the computer. Bye for now. Teri

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18

Hi everyone~

I posted here for a few months about a year ago and I'm pleasantly suprised that I recognize many of the user names from back then. It's so great that all you regulars are so dedicated to posting and staying in touch!

I have basically been off program and off running since last July which has resulted in an 18 lb gain (how is that even possible!?). Same old story...I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired so when my alarm went off at 5:15am this morning I actually got out of bed and hit the TM!! I did a 36 min interval program that is walking at 3.9mph with 3 - 2min 6.0mph runs mixed in. It hurt. I could really feel the extra weight while trying to run. So I have one workout under the belt. I also joined weightwatchers online and plan to track even if I eat a Culvers chzbrg for dinner! I came out searching for this group during lunch b/c I so enjoyed the motivation and encouragment that I got from this thread last spring. Thanks in advance for helping me get healthy and active once again! :)

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18

I hope all the mothers out there had a great Mother's Day weekend. DH upgraded us to First Class yesterday so the trip back from NYC was quite enjoyable - even the hour we circled around Chicago waiting to land because of bad weather. We even had an actual meal! I'm so used to being part of the 'cattle crowd' that I usually buy a Diet Coke prior to boarding so I have something to drink. I get to see DD next weekend in Green Bay. We normally golf for Mother's Day and plan to do that over Memorial Day Weekend. This is going to be the Mother's Day that just keeps on for me. ;)

Yup - the countdown is definitely on for Green Bay. I took a peak at the first weather forecast - rain...Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I guess it is going to be what it's going to be so I'm trying not to stress out about it. Just planning to bring all kinds of clothes and prepare for any possibility! I ran my last 'long' run today - nine miles! It was strange to run less than a double digit. I've been reading some of the coping mechanisms for running the marathon and one of them is to dedicate each mile to someone different. I am going to do that. So I started thinking about who I would dedicate each mile while I was running this morning - just doing that took time!

Happy - Congrats on the successful meeting yesterday. Your menu for the day looks good too. I'm having my 'normal' Monday night salmon because I really like it! I think I'm going to eat normally until Wednesday and then eliminating any foods that could cause possible GI distress. I finally found a health club with a pool this afternoon when I was walking home from Fleet Feet - it is only about three blocks away - just not in a direction I normally go. I might have to check it out. The aquajogging sounds like something I might like to try myself. They also have spin classes to I'm trying to look ahead!

Maxiemoo - It was great to see your post when I logged on today. Bunions can definitely wreck havoc with your running program. Do you need any special inserts for your shoes? I hope the swim went well today - it sounds like you have a plan and are ready to go with it!

Eskokid - Life can certainly get in the way at times, can't it? I like your post - the voices reminded me of the song 'Flagpole Sitta' - where it states 'the voices in my head, I swear to God it sounds like they're snoring'!!! LOL Glad you went with the plan - makes your DOR that much sweeter. Good luck with increasing your mileage this week - I feel like a slacker!

tmdteach - My kids used to LOVE going to Cracker Barrel when we were on road trips! It sounds like you are doing a good job with your runs. How many days a week are you running?

RedFox - Your family picture from yesterday was really nice. Thanks for your luck for the marathon - good luck to you in Atlanta too! It sounds like you are being very realistic about your job and I like that you might be working in the city! Woo hoo - then we would be able to get together! I'll keep the prayer lines open to the interview gods and hope you get the chance to strut your stuff. I showed DH your weekly menu - he was quite impressed! Do you think your sister is going to want a Garmin of her own after you the 5K together? ;)

GatorGirl - You had quite the hectic, emotional race day on Saturday! Thanks for posting the pictures - they are too cute! DH looks like he was having a grand time. Cranky DS it too cute for his own good! I think I'll probably be cranky Sunday afternoon after getting up early for the marathon! I'm definitely a morning person only on my own terms - coffee and a newspaper! What's with the short supply of porto potties at races of late? I have a question about personal chips - did you order it special? It is something I've been thinking about but haven't done any research on them. Too funny about your cousin taking your sister's place and name across the finish line - all the way from Alabama! I think your DD has something there about running and then sleeping although I think both 1:30 and 4:30 sound scary to me!

nhmommy - Amelia's mother's day present was too cute! Love the curls. Did she learn her song at preschool? I'm not sure how old she is but cute as a button!

Rozzee - Congrats on doing your first 'real' run. Glad you were able to find where to log it.

Bo - LMAO about your going away party - I'm sure you had a blast at the Rainbow bar - we used to do that ourselves when we go back to Wisconsin to visit family. Glad it was a good party and you gotta love the Diet Coke with your Captain Morgans! Woo hoo - DH must be home - I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall when he saw you! ((( ))) for your massage - the piriformis can cause more pain and stabbing pain than you can imagine. Bless your heart - ice will definitely be your friend! The massage that was done to your piriformis can cause a lot of discomfort the following day and usually subsides shortly thereafter. Definitely talk to your therapist tomorrow about it. Ask if you should do both ice and heat to help the process - called a vascular flushing. That can help the healing process.

Shannon - Ouch about the laptop. I've had that same problem in the past and 'try' to backup my stuff - some months I'm better than others. Sorry that you weren't able to run your 10K last weekend although the spinning class sounds like it was just what you needed.

Life - I hope you are feeling better. Bless your heart for not being able to run but thankfully had someone with you that was able to do the driving. There must really be something going around - I've heard a lot of people getting sick quickly. We saw a play called 'Top Girls' on Saturday night at The Biltmore Theatre. Unfortunately, it was the worst play I saw in a LONG time. DH pretty much slept through it! LOL. You have lots of culture in the national parks - just on a more serene key! We have always tried to join the local theatre wherever we live so we would have a date night while the kids were growin up. It was always easy to say 'next weekend' and then nothing would happen. At least joining for a season forced us to get dressed up and now it is just a part of what we do.

Colleen - How did you feel after your 12-miler? Hopefully that means you didn't have strep. Do you feel like you are ready to get back to your 'normal' training routine now or still recovering from Boston? Glad DS is on the mend too. How was ocean yesterday? Do you feel the way you changed your food plan worked well for you? Any suggestions of things you might have changed?

That's about it for now. I'm planning to get my BIL's photo ready to put on my singlet. That is tomorrow's goal. Hopefully I'll be able to post a photo of it. I am also planning to have the names of the people I'm dedicating miles to typed and laminated and wear on my wrist so I can remember who I'm running for! I suffer from CRS syndrome - Can't Remember Sh*t! Any other suggestions for the week more than welcome.

Have a great evening.

~Darlene

Welcome back aryerse1. I must have been typing my post when you submitted yours. Congratulations for getting back on track and looking up the thread - you are right - there are so many wonderful people here that are helpful every day. Some days it is the exercise - other days the food and some days everything goes awry. We've all been there, done that. I had to laugh when I read about posting if you eat a cheeseburger at Culver's - we were just talking about them last night!!! I'm heading to Green Bay, Wisconsin later this week to run the GB marathon and they have Culver's there! Oh man, I haven't a clue how many points are in those butter burgers. ;) Good luck this week.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18

Hi!

I'm new to the board (have only been running about 10 months and only recently started doing anything organized) but consider myself a successful WW 'lifer' - I lost about 45 pounds (did it all online), got to and maintained my goal weight, but wouldn't mind either losing about 5 more or simply toning up a bit.

I've done 2 official runs so far this season (including one last Sunday) and am looking for more to do; 5K is my 'good' distance, but I'm toying with the idea of a 10K in September.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18
Hi everyone.

Mother's Day was an interesting day. When I woke up to go to the race DH announced he wasn't feeling well.... again. I had a mini-tantrum and renounced myself to the fact that the universe does not want me to run - at all. I had the girls up fed dressed etc. and was going to take them to the park and my DH comes out of the bedroom yelling at me to go to the race. I annoyingly told him that I wouldn't get to the start in time and he insisted I get my (explicit word here) to the race. I threw on my clothes and sped to Nashua to see if I could get there. I did, with about 10 minutes to spare. The start of the race was downhill which was not my favorite part at all, I would have prefered they had done the route backward as the finish was yup you guessed it uphill for the last ~100yards. The whole course was hilly and I kept my pace pretty much through the whole race, but I was not having fun, and I actually was wishing for the end. However, I have to say that I was disappointed in my performance and am totally freaking out about the 12K this weekend. REALLY FREAKING OUT! I did get a gift certificate for a massage AND a facial for mother's day. That is pretty exciting. I start the new job a week from today. I am nervous, but excited too.

Happy: You go girl. down is down! YIPPEE! That video was pretty cute huh? She is such a ham. What is an Aquajogger? I don't think I have ever heard of that. The pool workout sounds really nice. I don't have a pool at my gym. The other clubs do, but the memberships are non-transferable and the club is right around the corner from my house.

Red: Great photos. Looks like a great day!

Colleen: My profile is up! :) I am soooo freaking out about the 12K I don't want to let anyone down, and this will officially be my longest race to date. Any suggestions? Have you run the course before?

OH! I just found a pic of me from the race. I am on the right! it is attached.....

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - May 12-18
Well, the day has been a challenge as I thought but I have a few minutes to wind down. Glad it was a DOR because I am exhausted from just sitting at my desk all day. Monday's are always tough. Reports and other stuff are due on Mondays.

Leany - I am a weather peeker too. More often than not the weather changes quite a bit from what they forecast that is more than 72 hours. The upgrade to first class was a nice treat.

Nhmommy - My philosophy on events is this. If I come away knowing that I gave the event my very best on that given day, I have succeeded and nothing else matters. Time is irrelevant. Took a look at the pic, you look quite relaxed and in control.

Rozee - congrats on the WI.

Hopefully I can get back to visit tomorrow.

Hi ya'll

Just checking in to let you know I am still here just horrendous busy! DH arrived safe yesterday afternoon and it has been a wirlwind since! We are trying to get much accomplished before my folks all arrive next Monday. It is crazy I did so much recently and we still have so much to do!

Yesterday I lost .4 at WI same as Happy :) So I am doing okay 2 weeks into maintainance. Happy some people water run with those long foam noodle things wrapped around them

Leany my hip/butt feels much better which is good as I was really hurting on Saturday. I don't think I did myself any favours by not drinking water after the massage, I went to Rum and Cokes and Tequillla shots instead :) My girlfriend took some awesome pics of the night out, tomorrow night I should have more time to post them and some personals.

K guys sorry it is short and sweet but I have to get going, catch you all tomorrow.

I am not doing so well with the eating, weight or exercise. My weight is up again, I had lots of snacks yesterday and I have not run since Sunday. And to top it off, I am getting a cold and have a dry scratchy throat and cough. Ughh! Why do old habits come back with a vengeance?
