Re: Nike + Ipod

I use the nike + Ipod.

I do not have the nike plus shoes, but the lady at the store told me that the attachement that can clip to it your shoe laces will work. I do like using this, mainly just because it's a great way to have a good idea of how far and what you've run.

I think it overestimates the distance a littl ebit and also has your pace a bit faster than it is. I run with an ipod anyway, so it's not too big of a deal to have it.

I enjoy it and its nice because you can set time or distance goals and the workout will be adjusted to what you want.

ANy other questions feel free to ask!

Re: Nike + Ipod

Hi~

I have the nike/ipod system and I really like it. It helps keep me motivated because I can enter the distance or time I want to cover and the system will tell me how far I've gone and how much further I have to go. It was more inaccurate initially but I have been able to get it more intuned to my treadmill. It's easiest of course if you have the nike shoes so you can just slip the module in your shoe....today in fact I just got marware (a pouch to hold the module that attaches to my laces and an arm band for the ipod). The key to increasing the accuracy is getting it as flat as you can on your foot so you pretty much need to mount in on the laces nearest to your toes (from the research I've done)...I'll let you know if it really works. I got the pouch because I wanted to be able to wear other shoes even though the nikes tend to work best for me.

Some things that I wish could be improved would be being able to go back to another playlist if you want to listen to different music...unless you shuffle you are stuck on the playlist you have. Also, a couple of times I've accidentally stopped the program by bumping the dial.

Overall though I think it's a great thing....you can upload your information online and the nike website gives you statistics on your running and you total distance....pretty cool.

If you decide to get yourself something like this and want the pouch look on ebay, I was able to get my set at a fraction of the cost.

Re: Nike + Ipod

I have been using Nike Plus for a little more than a month. I loved it until it didn't log my run. I ran with it, got home, plugged it in to download my info and it wasn't there. I know it had the info at one time because it gave me my stats at the end of my workout.

So I thought, well I must have done something wrong. Yesterday it did it again, only this time it locked my ipod up in the middle of my run. I had to restart my ipod completely and all info was lost.

I'm not a person that complains, or throws a fit if I get bad service. But this is very frustrating, because I really enjoyed the product. From what I understand this doesn't happen to everyone, but I have run into a couple others with the same problem.

In my opinion it's only 30 bucks, it's worth taking the chance.

Re: Nike + Ipod

Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having....have you tried taking it back and trying a new one? I had posted earlier about buying a marware pouch and on my first run (I placed the shoe pouch on my Brooks) it didn't even show that I had covered 4/10th's of a mile when I had covered 5 kilometers. The second time I used it I made sure the pod was in the same position as it would be in the Nike shoe and then attached the pouch to my Asics.....worked great, no problems. My only issue is now how to I adjust the workout to show what it should realistically be at the website....would be awful to have such a short distance and a long time associated with it.

P.S. yours is the first I've heard of your problem....hopefully it's just a defective attachment and can be remedied..the store should take it back. Good luck :)

Re: Nike + Ipod

Hey Jojo,

Ya, I did the calibration but it just wasn't picking up the steps the time I used the Brooks....it works now in the pouch w/ the Asics and it's pretty close on....I love the nike/ipod system...question for you.....you know of any good running trails, etc. around our area? Not that with the 100 degree temps I'll be doing that anytime soon but I need to get out there eventually. LMK

Re: Nike + Ipod

I bought the Nike+ sensor back in February and wouldn't go on a run/race without it now! I absolutely love it and have had zero problems with it from Day 1. I would strongly suggest that you do your calibration at a track and not on a treadmill, if you can because I've found that to be a lot more accurate. I don't have the Nike+ shoes, so I also bought the Marware Nano armband and velcro shoe pouch. I switch it around between 3 pairs of shoes with no problems. My calibration is spot-on because I set my distance before a race and every one has been accurate according to the race length. That's a great motivator, when you can get an accurate reading of your distance run and remaining so you know when to start kicking up your speed at the end of your race/run.

After a couple months with mine, I bought one for my husband. His calibration is slightly off because I think his stride length varies more than mine. I'm more of a slow/steady runner with an even stride. So, depending on your stride, there might be some accuracy issues with the distance. However, it's not enough to make a huge distance in his training.

Needless to say, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see their progress over time and wants or needs a little more motivation. I also love the flexibility and have loaded some interval training mp3 files on my Nano and do those quite frequently.

Bottom line...I LOVE it!
