NY lottery
The lottery winners are being picked today and I entered again- third year running. I am so hoping I get in, but know its not likely. Did anyone else enter?

When I read the title I though you meant $$$$ lottery. I'm not in but I know there are some who are - Charlie and Craig, maybe.

OK- whu in the **** does it take so long to post the winners. Are they really pulling 36000names out of a hat or something. Im dying to know if i made it in. If i dont- then next year i should qualify for guarenteed. oh, i so hope i make it this year.......

a big fat "no" no explanation or anything. Hard not to take it personally. I think out of the thousands that apply, I should be chosen. Oh well, I will be depressed for a short time- again, and then get over it. Theres always next year.

so sorry! do they have some kind of plan so that if you are rejected so many years in a row, you automatically get in the next year?

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't make it in.
I didn't enter; I doubt that I ever will. Just not interested in a marathon in NYC, nor one that uses a lottery.

That's such a bummer. We are all sad for you too. But look on the bright side. You can run MCM with us.

Sorry Kathy. You have tons of company though. I didn't get in either. On the bright side, if I read your post correctly and this was your third straight year of rejection, you're in for next year! So early congrats! I ran NYC last year, so this is only strike one for me. If I remember correctly, Charlie was in through qualification (he's fast remember). The "please leave us alone" (paraphrasing) message that appeared at 2 PM yesterday and lasted until, you guessed it, 11:59 PM, was kinda annoying. I guess they were getting way too many people checking obsessively (myself included ). Remember that virtually half of NYC Marathon comes from overseas entries, most through tour groups. I believe roughly half of the remaining are pre-qualified, leaving the lottery for that last quarter or so to us huddled masses. Are you running MCM?

Are the 3rd strike and your automatically in on 4, included in your quarter or the pre-qual quarter?

Thanks for the sympathy- I believe this was my second consecutive rejection( according to my son)- I ran mcm in 2006 and did not enter the lottery that year. I did enter the lottery in 2005 though. So 3 rejections total. I will keep my fingers crossed next year. For both of us. I am running mcm- I really didnt think I would get in this year and was fine until the day came, and I am fine now. I ran a nice easy 4 miler this am and am planning my mcm trip already. I just cant wait to run ny- i know it wont be as good as mcm, but it will be my boston.

Oh sorry Kathy, then it will take another strike or luck next year - unless of course you go for the 9 + 1 NYRR races this year. The rejections need to be consecutive years.
