Are you dehydrated?

Did you know? "On average, most adults lose about 10 cups of fluid a day through sweating, exhaling, urinating, and bowel movements. Even minor dehydration can cause impaired concentration, headaches, irritability and fatigue"

I just learned that in this great article, 10 Reasons to Drink More Water, over at ririanproject.com

We have a water cooler in the office that serves cold and refreshing water but I slack on the weekends because I drink from the tap and it never tastes as good.

Do you have any helpful tips or tricks to remind you to stay hydrated?

Water is like one of the most important things to me when in the past it wasn't. I am the same way with tap water and water from cooler or bought. But i found it you add ice to the tap water its good to go. Really cold water is what i think is the refreshing part. What helps me is that i take a gallon of water with me to work and drink from it, knowing how much i have drank all day from the hand dandy gallon. if you don't have ice in your office, freeze the gallon of water 75% and it will be good to go all day. On the weekends i have my personal water bottles in the frigerator at all time times. If i don't have water bottles in the frig then something is definitely wrong. Going out to eat, water is what is ordered. I personally have been able to not get tired of water and don't think i ever will, but if you have that problem try using some additives to give taste.

hope that helps.

I have a 32 oz Nalgene bottle at work. I make sure that go through one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Pete Pfitzinger has a good article on the effects of dehydration on running performance: http://pfitzinger.com/labreports/dehydration.shtml
