....you are all tired of me being excited about my upcoming weekend. I was just checking the race sights forum for updated info and found some cool writings. Let's begin by saying I looked at the weather for the week and it is setting up for some serious watering holes and mud for me. I am getting ever more excited especially after reading this from the race director:
Courses changes for 2008.
The mileage will be the same but....
1- once you reach aid station 1, you will be 95% OF THE TIME on a NEW brook until aid station #2. This will allow us to avoid crossing route 242 since You will go underneath the road in a 50 foot culvert that is 6 feet high. This section is fairly technical, you will be slow but it is so beautiful you should enjoy it
2- Because of the 1st change you will reach the base of Jay Peak on the state side instead of the main lodge, You will then climb Jay peak to the top via a completely insane( STEEP) new route. So if you look at the mountain from the village you will climb on the ridge line on the left to the top
3- For the first time in 7 years, you will actually reach the top of Jay peak on the ledge to the top. In the past 6 years we were always short of the top by about 50 feet... this year you will be at the absolute top. Consequently you might want to have a lightweight shell in your drop off bag in case of bad weather at the summit.
4- Beautiful new singletrack section on the christmas tree farm.
See you all in a few days
Dan
It is still 5 months until Christmas by my quick count. I am so excited. Charlotte I have a schedule of when you and Liz will be able to see me and there will be a break there for some food gathering(lunch). Fun Fun Fun.

The weather here has been very rainy, and tonite, there is an outdoor Elton John concert 5 miles from here, it's just gorgeous. Low 70's no humidity, but the rain has been coming down steadily for a couple of days. Tomorrow and Wednesday are supposed to be rainy, a little storm here and there on Thursday, but clearing on Friday and Saturday. So the trails might be a little slippery. It's almost Thursday. See you guys soon.

Yeah I can not wait and the weather is setting up perfect for a shiggy trail. Mud Mud and more mud. The race director said that the beavers have redirected some of the water this year puttin us in waist deep water at times early on.

Good luck JImmy. I am really anxious to hear all about this one, because it is on my radar for next year. I just have to convince my wife I was delerious when I told her afdter El Scorcho that I would not do another Ultra. LOL.
Have fun!
You're insane as usual Jimmy. Have a blast!
Jimmy, this sounds awesome. You SHOULD be REALLY excited!! I'm jealous that you get to meet Omi!!
Jen it will not be too long before we meet and I can't wait, CHICAGO, HERE WE COME. We're going to have a blast. Can't wait to meet Jimmy and Liz on Thursday, I'm just hoping that the weather holds on Saturday. Chuck, you know that if you come this way to do Jay, you're welcome to stay with us.
Chuck, I was playing with the idea of Jay, too. I have some friends who run it every year but they're super speedy accomplished trail and ultra runners. But next year I'll be coming off Antarctica in March and the Pittsburgh marathon in May so barring injury I should be in the best shape of my life and I want to break into ultras. We will see...
