Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

Hi everyone!  Today I am starting week 2.  I managed to get out early on Saturday morning to finish week 1.  It was a million degrees outside and so humid (I live in Raleigh, NC) and had I not done it at 9 in the morning, it wouldn't have gotten done.  We are expecting a cold front (temps in the 70's ) here this week so hopefully that will help with week 2.  Do any of you find the weather helps or hurts your efforts???

I have been SO bad... I didn't do W1D2 OR W1D3. I left my running shoes at my office (I work in a different town) and instead of doing the determined thing and buying another good pair (I REFUSE to run in bad shoes, learned that lesson a long time ago), I just took off the whole weekend. I'm ashamed! I need accountability... you guys yell at me please. I'm going to run tonight!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

Good Morning all,

I started C25K on 9/12.  I've completed my first two workouts and feel good, looking forward to week two.

Since there are three workouts per week, I was wondering when others took their extra day off?

Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

First week was off because I took an extra day between D1 and D2 runs.  I think it helped, needed extra recovery after months of basic sedentary nothingness.

But now that I've finished D2 and D3 I'm thinking I'll do a Tues./Thurs./Sat. schedule and take Sun./Mon. off.  But when we start hiking and camping I might shift that to M/W/F with the weekend off.  Hard to say.

Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

Hi all, I'm planning to start w1d1 today as soon as I get home from work.

I'm 24 years old, 5'8", 186lbs and have never been athletic.  My husband and I are making a joint effort to get healthy. He has a bad back and won't be able to be my running partner(to his relief). He convinced me to join his yoga class, though, and I hope it will be a good rest-day excercise to keep my muscles relaxed.

We've been attempting to change our eating habits since January (with lots of lapses) and I have lost a total of 22lbs so far using thedailyplate.com for calorie tracking.  But I've only been excercising sporatically, maybe once a week at best.  I decided I needed a goal, so my goal is to run in my local 5k Turkey Trot in November.

I'm very excited to start running!

Unfortunately, I woke up this moring with a sore hip due to walking around a theme park all day yesterday. I really wanted to start today (Monday), but if it starts bothering me too much, I guess I will have to repeat day 1 on Wednesday.  I think I will be keeping my extra rest day flexible, but I'm starting out with Mon/Wed/Sat. Thursday night is yoga.

I found all the info on Coolrunning.com it is a great website with lots of helpful info.

I think I am going to do the program on Mondays, Wednesday, and Saturdays.  In between I do plan on doing some walking/weight lifting on my own.  Has anyone tried to do their own thing on their day's off??  I don't want to overdo, but I like the feeling I get from being active and I just can't sit around and not do at least a little something :)!

Also c25k.com is nice because it has all the stuff together on one page, including the podcasts.

I got my W2D1 run in. It wasn't so bad. I hope I can still say that in a few weeks.

Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

I DID IT!  I did W2 D1..  It was not so bad I even went an extra 10 minutes.  I can use all the extra cardio I can get.  Pretty soon I am going to move outside and try one day outside.  preferably early in the morning when it is nice and cool.

I was really worrying about weeks 2 and 3 but I got through one day of it!  And I can already tell my breathing is alot better.  i am going to be so ready for that 5k!

Good job everyone and welcome to the newcomers!

Lisa

I'm starting w3d1 today. I'm 5'5" 188. I have a one year old son and I really haven't been consistently active since before getting pregnant. I never liked running but I wanted to give c25k a try because I just feel so out of shape. My husband and I are doing the program together so hopefully that will help us keep motivated.

Re: C25K start 9/7/08...anyone else with me! ? :)

Week 2 day 1 complete!  It felt great, much cooler outside so I wasn't detered by the weather.  The running was easier than I thought, I think it was having a day off that really helped.  I am going to just do some other cardio tonight to keep my on track,  can't wait for day 2!
