Good luck Chris.  Make sure you get all the tests and inspections done.

Best of luck Chris, and as Len says - make sure you have the inspection done and your present when its done.  Also ask your parents for advice if needed.

Congratulations, Chris! I bought my first home about a year and a half ago, but I remember all the paperwork and nerves that went into- both good and bad. I'm not kidding when I say the day that I moved into my new place my whole world changed around for the better. I had a beautiful new home, two days later Chris and I finally got together, and I told myself that when I got my place I'd start working out again... look where all that running lead me!!

There was a book called 100 Questions Every First Time Home Buyer Should Ask and it broke a lot of information down in a really useful way for reference. I passed it on to all my friends after I had gotten my use out of it.  Congrats again!!

Chris, that house is yours, I know it is.  Yes, fixed rate, inspections, all that good stuff.  Make sure you warm up your wrist before closing, you'll have to sign like a million pages.  I told Brenda next time we buy a house I'm having a signature stamp made...LOL

Good luck Chris, and make sure they do a thorough inspection of the roof, when my daughter and son-in-law bought their house, they did have an inspection, but the roof was kind of looked at lightly.  This was a year and a half ago and they've just had to redo their roof.  That's my little bit of advice and of course, always a fixed rate mortgage.

My boss made a similar comment about a stamp But I'm also following the Hal Higdon first time closing plan, which starts with signing ten papers a day, and works up to being able to go for a full four hours of nonstop signing, with the occasional potty break in between.

Thanks for the well wishes all...and yes, fixed rate, and yes, already said I required an inspection. When everything goes through I will post pictures. Nice thing is that, if I close at the end of this month, I will have all of October & November to paint and prep and finally move, since my current lease isn't up until 30 Nov.

I also keep staring at my phone, willing it to ring. This waiting is horrid!

Give me your phone number. I'll be happy to make it ring. When is the house warming party? We ARE all invited, right?

    Chocolate is very nice.
