Random Observations while running

I was running one of my favorite local routes yesterday, the Noland Trail, a 5 mile loop around Lake Maury in Newport News. The trail has a stone marker for every half mile, and also for all of the bridges. While the mile markers are ascending both directions (each side is marked with a different number) the bridge numbers do not change.

I noticed a touch of irony due to this, if you are following bridges in ascending order, mile marker 4 is placed just before bridge 13. (The number 4 is superstitions in Japanese/Chinese cultures because it is a homonym with Death in their languages). Does this make one of my favorite trails bad luck?
