Let's face it, fast, convenient healthy eating isn't always easy. Grabbing a banana is fine, but that's not a meal. And after a long swim, ride or run, sometimes the last thing I want to do is cook. I'm hungry now!
In his latest article for Active, +Happy, Healthy Meals for the Modern Endurance Athletes+, EveryMan Triathlete Roman Mica picks three of his favorite fast food meals that don't stray from the "nutritious" category.
My go-to healthy fast food is a Chipotle fajita burrito with chicken. Tasty, quick and I get to watch them make it before my eyes. Plus I like eating at a place that sponsors a pro cycling team.
Anyone else have a favorite healthy fast food choices?
I am with you on Chipotle...I also like to treat myself to In-N-Out after a nice long workout, although I think that violates Rule #1 "It must be healthy. By healthy I mean a common sense "healthy," which in my book means that the meal uses mostly fresh ingredients, it is not fried or nuked, or in any way cooked in grease or saturated fats." It still makes me feel good :P
After my lunch workout I am a regular at Au Bon Pain as there is one in my building. They make a fresh salad with your choices of add-ins for about $6.99, plus a bottle of water takes you the $9 mark. The sandwichs aren't bad either with gilled chicken etc... You just need to stay away from the pastrys, and cookies. Also their website offers calorie and nutrition informaiton.
