Charlotte is 12/13... no good with the Blue & Gray half on the 14th (although that would be kind of twisted training for Goofy...)
Everything you do is kind of twisted.
Everything you do is kind of twisted.
Well, yeah. You say that like it's a bad thing. ![]()
Still, I'm pretty sure I don't have 39.3 in me for one weekend in THAT order. Goofy is a level of insanity reserved for a one time deal. At least once in 2009.
I dunno, but if they do transfers and you don't have one, you can have my registration Craig.
Thanks! I registered for Disney forever ago though. It's the flight/hotel/Disney tickets part that's not fully decided yet. I've been shopping Disney hotels this week. The value ones are sold out, except on Travelocity I can get All-Star Movies (or Music?) but there's a $25 cancellation fee. Staying off-site worked fine for me last time though, not sure which way to go... if I go.
My back-up for Charlotte is Jacksonville. Jacksonville times much better work-wise but it means flying.
I agree. I don't think it would ake for good training. But you rarely care what other people think. LOL

If you want to stay in the park, try calling them. The hotel I wanted was unavailable online last night, but no problem when I called today. I could have gotten two rooms but we're staying in a different hotel from my daughter.
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.
(Apologies to T. Rush and J. Tempchin, for the paraphrase)
Thanks Len. I just tried calling. After 15 minutes of disneymusic, they cheerily said the cheapest available was $219/night.
The Philly Marathon website says the date to switch between races has passed, but I'm not sure if they're enforcing it or not. Two years ago, I switched from the half to the full at the expo. I wrote them on Thursday but haven't heard back, so I called today and left a message. If Philly will allow the switch at the expo, I'll almost definitely do the full at Richmond; if Philly decides to be strict, then I have to think (ugh).
Holly (in case you haven't switched yet), from Philly's voicemail message, it sounds like if you ask, you may still be able to switch to the half. The trick for me is I wouldn't know until a day or two before.
Jerry, when are you picking up your bib? (Thinking you may be in Richmond around dinner anyway.) Or did you yield to the idea of having someone pick it up for you?
Kara, Chris?, Jerry? - How does La Grotta (http://www.lagrottaristorante.com/) at 5:30 PM sound?
I found a hotel loop hole for Richmond, so I'm set for downtown for one night.
Yeah, I know I am kind of late, but I think I can handle that. Or at least find it. Craig do you still have my email? I haven't been able to read up on the board much this week.
So hit me in email.
Kara
You are kidding me! Did you try the marathon reservations line? Perhaps the regular line? And lastly what about discounts? AAA? Government? (I have no idea what you do)
Last year they were sold out for a long time. I switched my hotel to a different one the week or so before the race. I thought, ehhh, it doesn't hurt to try. So I called and they flipped me all around and kept my rate the same.
If you didn't like the person on the phone, hang up and call back in an hour. Some people go the extra mile to make it work. Others are just nasty.
It may be better not to tell them you're there for the marathon. I'm sure they set quotas, so many online, etc. On the other hand, if outside the park is fine, that shold be easy too.

Interesting, I was trying things on Disney's web site. Staying Jan 9 - 13 for a party of 2, All-Star Music (& Movies) is available for $82 per night. If you make it Jan 9 - 12 it is not available.

Weird. It looks like it'll be cheaper to buy the extra night, even if you don't use it.
MOST of the time you can check out early without penalty or charge for the extra night.
Thanks guys! I'm still debating onsite or offsite. Has anybody used the Disney Express hotel-airport shuttle service? If so, what did you think?
Also for anybody who stayed onsite for the marathon, what did you think of the bus service on race day?
Jerry used the shuttle service from the airport and it worked out well for him. I waited with him for the pickup to leave and it was on time. Anything more than the fact that he made to and from both places in time, would have to be explained by him.
The shuttle service to the marathon was great. I had no problems with it. Lots of busses all going to the same place. And the buses worked well for getting around the parks too.
