    Re: 26.2 CAR STICKERS

I don't have one because I don't like stickers on my car.  But it is interesting seeing the stickers that identify others with the same affliction.

The license plate on my wife's car is RNR 083.  Shame she didn't get RNR 262.

    Re: 26.2 CAR STICKERS

Wow, I did'nt know they made 13.1 stickers!! I 'm training for a half in May. When I complete it, you will def see a sticker on my Pathfinder. I also snowboard and my truck is loaded with Burton, SPY ,686. It looks more like a teenage boys ride, rather then a 49 yr old woman!!!  But I love my hobbies and want to tell the world about it. But I will be most proud to earn a 13.1 sticker, to all you 26.2's, thats awesome!! Don't know if I could that, but I'll never say never......Megan

    Re: 26.2 CAR STICKERS

The confusion with translating "26.2" has prompted me to have a sticker (which i will proudly display after my first marathon in Feb 2009) says "MARATHON".

I think it pretty much speaks for itself and something all can understand (even non-runners)

. I will put another one right under it after my achievement which reads, "26.2...because I can." That too speaks for itself.

I think it is a HUGE accomplishement and i like seeing them on people's cars. I respect the achievement and will be glad to be a part of this elite group once i run my race in Feb.

    Re: 26.2 CAR STICKERS

A couple of years ago, I was in Baltimore early one December morning looking for Druid Hill Park where the Celtic Solstice 5 miler was to be run.  I was lost.  At a light, I looked up and saw the vehicle in front of me had an oval 26.2 sticker on it.  I followed it thinking the odds were pretty good that such an unusual sticker would lead me to the event.

I pulled into a parking space next to the the vehicle I'd been following in the park.  As we both stepped out of our cars, I noted to the other driver that I'd been following his sticker.  He laughed and pointed at the car who'd just parked before him: it had a 26.2 sticker.  He was lost, too.

The 26.2 Club is a small one.  Put the sticker on your car and nod at others who have one.  Who cares about those who don't?

The thing with "MARATHON" is that people will ask, "How far is that?"

    Answer, "26.2 miles."

Then you get silence while they try to think of a distance correlating to 26.2 miles. Next they will say, "That's far. Do you run the whole way?"

Answer is "yes", but I am not sure if they expect me to say I walk, ride a bike, take a bus or drive a car?

    Re: 26.2 CAR STICKERS

ha! ha! yeah, i agree with you on that one steve. it's like that awkward silence from the skid of the tires to that actual impact. like, "oh wow, you can actually do that!?" i love the response of, "****, i get tired even thinking of that many miles" or, "i don't even want to DRIVE 13.1 or 26.2 miles!"
