Does Anyone Ride a 29/26er?

I'm curious as to whether you can tell a big difference or not. Do you really get better traction? And are there any noticeable drawbacks?

Re: Does Anyone Ride a 29/26er?

I love mine. It's an old Bontrager, with a rigid Surly fork. It is wonderful for fast, minimally technical fireroads and singletrack (lots of that near me). Yes, the increased rollover is great, and I have more confidence in fast loose turns -- but I'm not sure whether thats REALLY from better traction, or just a placebo effect.

Two additional great benefits -- unimportant, but kinda nice, it gets lots of attention and looks super cool; much more important, the fully rigid setup has improved my riding skills considerably, no more suspension-as-a-crutch in the face of not-so-smart line choices, etc.

The only downside -- should I carry two tubes? (nah, I just carry a 26 and some patches)
