Starting Gateway to 8K - My Journal

On 11/28/08, I completed C25K for the second time! The first time I completed the program was August 2007 and I moved on to the One Hour Runner program. When I started OHR, I was determined to stay outside when it started getting cooler, but I lost my motivation to run because of nursing school stress and the cold weather.

This go around, I know I need a plan that will help keep me motivated. I loved the Podrunner: Intervals music for the C25K program, so I'm going to move on to their Gateway to 8K program to see if it's for me. Because I couldn't find any threads on Gateway to 8K, I also decided to keep track of my progress here to keep myself motivated and help others that were interested in the opinion of someone that has done the program.

For now, I'm going to be doing all of my 8K training sessions on the treadmill at my school's gym ;) . If I ever get the nerve and the gear, maybe I'll try running outside once a week, until it warms up again. Feel free to stop by and comment, if you like.

Well, I'm going to get dressed & I'll be back to report how my 1st session went. Have a great day!

hi there! I just finished C25K too and am looking around for a new plan I like trying to decide how to progress now- is there a table for how to do the gateway to 8K if I don't want to use podcasts? or can it only be done with the podcasts? thanks!

Hi VJ! so glad to see that you are still running. I tried to restart the C25k program after Thanksgiving but I may have restarted too quickly because the pain in my left shin came back. I plan to restart on Friday. I got a new pair of running shoes and inserts for Christmas. I'll probably go back to week 4 or so and take it easy. I can't wait to get to where you are! You are doing great! Keep up the good work.
