With http://www.MyTennisWorld.net we offer an absolutely FREE educational social tennis network where hundreds of photos and dozens of videos of the top pro players are presented, most of them with my technical comments. You can see a wide variety of examples of all the tennis strokes where some of them can be considered as ideal, some average and some rather wrong. These examples should help you while working on your game. Each member can also submit one video footage of his/her stroke for a free stroke analysis. At the picture attached below here, you can see one example - Dinara Safina (RUS, from a doubles match at the 2008 French Open) is looking away from the ball / impact zone before she strikes the ball during most of her serves. This is in my opinion the main reason for her not very stable serve. Some of you might remember the 2008 Olympic final where Safin lost in 3 sets to Elena Dementieva. In this final match, Safina commited 17 double faults!!! So, looking at the picture below (click at the attachement), you might see one of the main reasons why she (Safina) lost that Olympic final in Beijing....
What a shame for her that she was not taught right. There are many more interesting facts to be discovered at http://www.MyTennisWorld.net - for example how does Dinara's brother Marat Safin (RUS) handle his eyes during the serve.. What do you expect..?
For comparison to Dinara Safina (above and below), I am adding picture of Andy Murray (UK) here (from his first round match at the 2008 US.Open). His eyes are focused at the impact zone during the impact..., what a difference when you compare it to Safina..
Here is Dinara Safina (from a doubles match at 2008 French Open) one more time directly below the text. What a shame that she was not tought right... at http://www.MyTennisWorld.net you can see how her brother Marat Safin (RUS) handles this situation during his serve motion.. What do you expect..?
....and just for an other comparison, hobby player Mario from the 55+ category. This long-time student of mine, eventhough starting with tennis in his adult life only and with technical mistakes, was in between able to learn perfect eye control of the ball during the serve. Also his body involvement in the stroke and high elbow are for an average hobby player excellent!! Picture was taken during the MBTA Annual Spring Tennis Camp in Naturns in April 2009!
New images from the 2009 French Open are being added to MyTennisWorld.net almost daily....Below Roger Federer (SUI) before his crucial match against Tommy Haas (GER)..., go for much more to www.MyTennis World.net
..adding to the serve comparissons, MyTennisWorld.net now features also serve images of juniors and hobby adults for references across the board...
10-years old Fabian learned a professiona-like serve in less then 6 months and he is able to keep his eyes up towards the target even late after the impact..
