Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Hi, All:

I, too, started C25K this week.  This is my first time on the program and my first time running.  I love the structure of the program and look forward to improving one week at a time.

I ran Week 1 Day 1 without a podcast and had a hard time with the running while watching the seconds tick away on the treadmill.  On D2, I used a podcast but the music wasn't quite my style, though the verbal cues were incredibly helpful.  Today (D3) I ran using a playlist from my own iPod that I merged with Iestyn Lloyd's podcast which is verbal cues only (no music).  That worked great and the time flew by listening to my music.

Hope everyone has a great weekend -- looking forward to checking in with you for Week 2!

Sarah

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Just completed week 1 tonight.  I feel good.  I am a little nervous about the intensity increasing...running has NEVER been my thing...

I really want to do this and complete the 5K in my future.  Good luck to everyone....look forward to reading your future posts.:D

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Well, week 1 is officially over for me!  I did it, so proud of myself.   I too am not a runner by nature, so it has been a struggle for me and I am even wondering if I will need to repeat the first week.  I plan on doing week two day 1 on Monday and if I find I cannot do it I will go back and repeat week one.

Everyone keep up the great work though!

Hey guys, I'm joining your group and starting on week 2.

I started this program last year but got waylayed by medical things, and now I really want to be a runner again! I'm off to do W2d1, good luck to everyone this week! Oh, and let's think of a name for ourselves, shall we?

My husband just thought of a name...he is cracking himself up right now.

He thinks we should call ourselves the "tator trots"...get it....instead of tator tots....we are the couch "potato' to 5K.

have a great day...I am also staring w2 day 1 today.

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Hi everyone. I start w2d1 tomorrow, so anyone who does it today let me know how it goes. I don't think I'll have any problem with it. I felt really good on Friday when I completed w1. I still can't imagine running for 2 minutes straight though, let alone 5k. Funny name, sounds like something my brother would come up with. Hope you all have a great day!

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Hey everyone, I'm new and just started on the 5th as well. Week one went pretty well (even with a 25 degree morning on friday). I'm looking forward to starting week two tomorrow, I figured getting on these forums would help me stick with it!

Good luck to eveyone with week 2!

Chris

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Just completed W2 D1...it went well.  Believe it or not the time seemed to go faster than last week.  I was breathing hard...but I feel good...

Good luck everyone...keep running and writing.

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Happy Monday!  Just completed W2D1 and feel pretty good.  At one point I was really dragging until I realized I was on the last run and happily powered through it!

Question:  I sometimes get a sharp pain near my collarbone when I run.  Does this happen to anyone else?  I'm thinking I must shrug my shoulders a little when I'm nearing the end & getting tired.  Any feedback would be appreciated!

Re: C25K starting 1/5/09

Heh.  I also have a way of botching the Week2 timing.  I've misread it as "Run 1:30, Walk 1:00" before.  Today, I accidentally started the 4th run at 10:00 instead of at 10:30 (easy to do, since that's my turnaround point on an out-and-back run)... resulting in the last run ending early at 18:30.  It's funny when you know you've gotten off, but you're struggling to figure out how; because you're still wrapped up in running and watching the clock.
