Congratulations to Mike Herman and Nancy Talley as well as EYE-Q Vision Care Center for hosting such a fantastic marathon. The course was flat and fast until the rolling hills of Woodward Park around mile 21. Although I call them "rolling hills", I am FROM the area, so anything more than a .5% grade is steep for me!! The hills were no match for us as many set Personal Records (including me!)
The volunteer and course support were great, the crowds were everywhere to cheer for us, and for a smaller marathon (3000 participants combined for the half and full), I could not have asked for more. The food at the finish was MUCH better than I've received at bigger races, and the sweat-wicking shirt from the expo along with the warm sweatshirt at the finish are evidence that THIS IS A RUNNER'S RACE- developed by and for runners!!
This race is great for beginners. The Sierra Challenge Express did a wonderful job in hosting this marathon. I would recommend this to anybody who wants to get back into shape.
my first run in any running event ,looking forward to twin city half marathon
This is my second year. I walked last year and have entered to run this year. This is a great event to get started as my goal will be to run the full marathon next year and continue on to other events.
This is my first year, I did enter the run since you can run and walk it. Good luck to everyone!
Fresno does an amazing job of running a great race, even with the suprise hill in the last mile. Organization, friendly folks, volunteers, goodies, price, weather, cost, quality, course, fall scenery, plenty of toliets and fuel along the way for half and full marathon, and did I mention the finish fuel of ice cream sundae with fresh brownie and full breakfast, versus fighting for a banana at the big races?
I brought 2 friends from LA this year who equally had a great race. We went to Kings Canyon Natl Park, only 1 hr away, and got inspiration from the giant Sequoias the day before race. I have done 6 races all over California in 14 months, big events mainly, and this is hands down my favorite. Fresno should be proud.
thank you two city marathon for letting me experiance my 1rst half marathon or may i say my first marathon ever,it was great the medal the shirt the sweatshirt ,breafast everything, im hooked ,everything came out perfect except for one thing ,n that was my fault i forgot my chip that goes on my running shoes,i still ended up running the half marathon in 1 hr n 53 minutes ,im gonna definitly run next year ,n yeah that uphill towards the end got me good,i was lucky to finish ,i didnt train going uphill, good running all, thanks again two city marathon.
Excellent event. Best race shirt ever, plus an additional hoodie AND a nice medal! Not to mention the great hot breakfast, ice cream sundae, beers and other snacks. And the course itself was beautiful and very enjoyable. My favorite race of all I've done, despite the one flaw which was lack of signage for the shuttle bus pickup. I'll do it again next year ![]()
Everything was very organized! great goodies for runners after ie. breakfast, jacket, massages etc. I was a little confused at why that killer hill was given to us at the 8-9 mile mark. to me it would have been better placed at the beginning then the end. otherwise I had an absolute blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great race Fresno! Will definitely do it again next year!
Appreciated all of the goodies, thank you! A very well organized event! Would have loved to have run through that lovely park (over that cute bridge!) instead of the roads around it for some of the portions.
Fresno did an amazing job organizing this event. I participated in 7 half marathon's this year and I have to say this was on the top of the list. I think the city and sponsors did a great job in providing runners top quality treatment from the goodie bag/merchandise, the food and course. I would recommend people all over the country to come participate. Its only going to get bigger and better. Looking forward to next year!
This had to be the best race experience for me. The course support was excellent---plenty of water/gatorade/gu/medical stops. Post race goodies: sausage, egg, potato breakfast, plenty of fruit, and an ice cream sundae: YUM! And the goodies: a hat and long sleeve tech tee when you obtain your bib, and when you cross finish line a hooded zip up sweatshirt! love it!
Course for the most part was pretty flat, except towards the end. But nothing compared to the hills of the San Francisco Marathon.
I also had a great pacer, and met lots of wonderful people along the course. LOTS of fans cheering-I loved it. Also, had a timer at about each mile yelling out times as you passed. My only "dislike" was that the area after you cross the finish line was fenced off for runners only. I wanted a hug from my family-but I also wanted my breakfast and ice cream sundae! My family had to wait while I inhaled my breakfast. Maybe the race organizer might change that next year. It did help with the traffic congestion, though.
I will probably sign up again next year.
This was my 27th marathon and I can honestly say it was one the best experiences I've had over my 16 years of running. Well organized from the expo right through the finishers village. Some of the most enthusiastic volunteers I've ever encountered. The shuttle drivers were extremely interested in how I enjoyed the event, was there enough water, how did I like the route, was the course well marked, etc. Love the technical long sleeve shirt and the full zippered hoodie, nice touch at the finish line. However the ice cream sundae was the boss. Made my tummy smile. I'm coming back in 2010.
