I am a newbie runner training for my first 5K. I usually run with a friend who will be running the race with me & we are pretty evenly matched pace-wise. On the days when our schedules just don't mesh, or she is out of town I would like to run using music to help me keep to a 12 minute mile pace. I like all kinds of music, but would like mainly newer songs. Any suggestions?

A rule of thumb i've read is that most hip-hop is around 115 BPM and trance music is 125 BPM. The run to rhythm web site has a table showing BPM-to-pace. Their data shows the following:
