I've been running for about a 9months now and have finished two 5k races and am training for my first 10k race this May. Currently I'm doing a program which keeps has me running for 30mins on tuesday and thursday and then my long run on sunday. I've also incorporated strength training into my routine and cross training with pilates for stretching. My problem is that due to my schedule I have to get my strength training and runs on the same weekdays. Is that ok? I typically do my strength training in the am and then do my runs after work...and sometime swap them around depending on the schedule.
I'm just curious as to what others' experiences have been with doing strength training and running on the same days?

You should be fine doing splits, but listen to your body. If you start to feel fatigued, physically or mentally, you may need more time to recover between workouts. As you get closer to race day, progressively cut back on the strength training and increase intensity in your runs. You should be able to just maintain the strength aspect, while increasing run speed and endurance.

So far I've been doing ok, so I might continue. I've been doing some walking lunges and that seems to be strengthening my legs pretty well too.
