Almost 5 years ago, I was hit by a car that was traveling at 50 mph. I walked out of the hospital and I was back on the bike 11 days later. My son almost lost his father and my younger son would never have been born. Yet I see families riding together and guess who is the only one not wearing a helmet? Kids learn more from our actions than our words. Even if you ride in the driveway, one should wear a helmet. A crash in the driveway can put a person in ICU. Dads lve your family by wearing a helmet Always.
GG, you are so right on. I am going to try to employ a policy at our shop for progressive discounts on helmet sales. That is for subsequent family purchase each helmet will be reduced in price... And discount cards for employees to hand out to family members not wearing helmets as we pass them by.
I usually say to the little kid following the parents sans helmet, "tell your daddy to buy a helmet. Yours is so cool!"
