I must be the weird one here.  I never liked drinking beer.  I know...Blasphemy...a sailor that doesn't drink beer!  All that water just fills me up too much and the taste doesn't suit me either.  It is nice after a long run on a hot day as long it's really cold, and I've even taken a cup or two during some marathons...Got to love those Hash House Harriers!  I prefer the good hard stuff or even wine...less filling and tastes good!

It is almost impossible to find Shiner Bock here on PI but when I do I am excited. If they don't have that then I go for Killians but lately that has been rare as well. As far as beers in Japan go I have to agree with Mike Orion is really good or Sapparo.

Thanks for the tips.  I am sure that there will be some good beers.  I will figure out a way to get my Shiner fix in every now and again.  I enjoy traveling and learning as much as possible about the culture I am in.  It is weird but the alcohol and mood enhancement aspect teaches you alot about the culture of the people around you.  I am currently in the deep south and Miller/Bud light are the most sought after beverages.
