Jimmy, this is awesome!!! Japan, Australia and the great wall.  If I can get my but! back in an airplane I might come and visit.  I'm still debating about Antarctica and it's the dam travel (plane and boat) that keeps me from doing it, I'm just such a chicken shi!.  But I'm still trying to talk myself into it.  But, I've always wanted to go to Japan, so god only knows, it might happen.  Right now I'm debating if I have enough gumption to go back to Tahiti and New Zealand for our 20th anniversary, and after Thursday's flight it's not looking good.

Hey WM, I am retired USAF living in Vacaville, but one of my offices is in Vallejo. Mare Island is closed, now a housing development. I try to stick to local craft brews, a few more calories and a boatload more taste.

Jimmy - I do know MWR offers tours to Fuji over there.  From what I can remember is you can do Fuji either from the base to the summit or start out at 1 mile up.  I did the 1 mile up option in 93.  There were some Marines who made it up from 1 mile mark the in just over two hours.   BTW, the altitude will jack you up if you are not prepared for it.  We had a kid in our group that got sick at the 8,000 foot mark (past the point where we could turn around and go back down to catch the bus). 

Thanks for that altitude tip guys, I'll definitely keep that in mind.  I remember being in Rocky Mountain National park at 12,000 feet and having the feeling I'd never set one foot in front of the other.  So if we climb Fuji I'll definitely make sure I'll acclimatize.
