First Tri...swim gear question!

I am registered to do my first Triathlon this June and have done a lot of research on what to wear and what not to wear. The only thing I cannot find any answers to is if people ever wear water type shoes during the swim portion. I have seen pictures of people barefoot but have also seen some pictures of people with what looked like almost slippers on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

people swim barefoot they may walk over to the swim start w/ shoes/flipflops but dont' swim in them at worst they'd cause your feet to sink at best they'd give you a little flipper action which is illegal

    goals for 2011:

    break 19minutes for 5k

break 2:42 for olympic triathlon probably Anthracite olympic

break 3:16 for marathon ( a long shot but it's fun putting yourself out there)
