Hey all, sorry for not being around much... we are moving at work this week and it has been crazy. I have not run in 2 1/2 weeks now because of the hip, but am going to try it tomorrow no matter how it feels, since at this point it neither feels better nor worse. We shall see.
I don't have much time for shout outs, but wanted to say Congrats to runjr & family - fabulous race! You are all so fast! I'm glad you had nice weather for the race.
Okay, Boston... awesome to be there, even as a spectator. But I confess I was watching for DD and her friend, and my sis and I had timed where we were watching to catch them, not the elite runners. We saw them at the 7 mi mark, they were running ~8:23 and looked good. We were hoping to see them at Heartbreak Hill, but by the time we'd ditched the car and hopped on the T, we were afraid to go out that far for fear of missing them, so we settled for about the 24 mi mark. By then DD's friend had gone ahead, and DD was about 15 min. behind. After seeing both of them, we took off for the finish line, but didn't get there until DD had already finished. The weather, as I'm sure you know, was decent, but they ran into a good headwind the whole way. DD had hoped to run about 8:15, but she finished with an overall pace of 9:00. I don't think she was too surprised. Her schedule is so hectic that her sleeping and eating habits haven't been too good lately. I think she's going to take a break from marathons for a while. I'll try to add a pic but don't know if this will work:
If it comes out, DD is in the yellow (official shirt).
She did say one thing was really neat - as they approached Wellesley College, the girls were screaming so loudly that they could hear a roar from about a half mile away. How cool is that?!
Thanks for all the well wishes, all. We had a great time.
Happy running!
