Happy Sat night everyone! I managed to get another TM run in on Friday morning. Did a Pilates class this morning and then played 9 holes of golf. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to do a 12 mi run - longest ever! I'm no longer freaky about the distance as much as I worry about my foot... But, we'll see what happens! I did send the foot imprints today for the custom orthotics. Hoping I get them in time to break them in before the HM on 5/24. I've got less than a month now before my race...
Runjr: I run outside in Maine now (weather permitting) - in fact it was beautiful here today - about 70 and sunny! But this week was traveling, so that's why I ran on the TM twice. I think it's easier on my foot, too! Nice job on the 20.3 miles!!
Wendy: I wish I was confused with long distance runners...but sadly, I haven't lost any weight since ramping up my running. I have followed the advice of several and not tried to "diet" while training for the HM. But, I have found my hunger level has increased substantially - like, waking up in the middle of the night hungry which has NEVER happened to me. I've tried to eat healthy but don't always succeed...seem to crave carbs and sometimes take the easy route with crackers or sugar. Congrats on your race! You many not have the PR, but you did win your AG!!! Fine job!
Shelley: I made your protein bars last week - they are delicious but are kind of gooey. Are yours gooey? I did substitute some ingredients, so I don't know if it's because of the ingredients I chose... Have fun at your 5K!!
Jill: very exciting that your race is coming up!! Burning off some nervous energy can't be a bad thing.... How did your robot work out? I switched to the Gymboss (from my Polar HRM) because the beep wasn't loud enough on the Polar...aging ears, I guess. But, the Gymboss I can hear fine! Funny about shorts with pockets!! I just went to TJMaxx to buy some today - they're not easy to find (I don't like really short shorts...) but I did manage to get a pair. As for all your STUFF...for future races, you could look into getting a belt to carry stuff - I use an amphipod which I can attach H2O bottles to and it has a little pouch. I also have a slimmer one that has a built in storage space. You might find some of these at the Expo. I've heard some people talk about putting snacks in baggies and pinning them to your shirt so they're handy when you run... Haven't tried it myself.
Spice: good luck tomorrow!!! We know you'll be awesome! Very cool about meeting K Switzer...God love the women that broke barriers for us!
Runthe#s: Funny about the upright balance issues!! Great job on your PR!! Well done!
Macd: good news on the hip. Building stamina in a week...hmmm, short slower runs might be a good way to build stamina and acclimate, but don't overdo it or you might tire yourself out!
I'll update tomorrow after my 12 miler... Have a good evening!
