I'm looking for a running partner or group to train with for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in September. I ran the San Diego Rock n' Roll in June and would like to keep running 1/2 marathons. I like to cruise at a 10 minute mile pace and try to run a minimum of 5 miles 2 -3 times a week. I'm just in it for fun. I also would like to find a workout partner to lift weights with or do various weight classes at 24 hour fitness.
I am also looking for the same in Irvine. I have a gym at work so I will have to pass on the weights.
Please include me in any runs. Do you ever do any trail runs?
Hello, I am also getting ready for the Disneyland Half Marathon. I do must of my runs in North Orange County and will start running in Newport Beach every Saturday starting Aug 4 with Cal Coast Track Team. The runs are designed for beginner and intermediate runners to get ready for the 2008 OC Half and Full Marathon.
There is a FREE running group at the Nike Woman store in Fashion Island in Newport Beach on Thursdays @ 6, there are 3 mile, 5.5 mile and 8 mile courses. And there are guys there too, not just girls. The other locations have Run Clubs too, I just don't know their info. South Coast Plaza store and the Mission Viejo store.
i am on the wait list for the disneyland 1/2 marathon but also just looking into finding someone to do runs with in the irvine area. i also have a 24 hr. fitness membership and dont use it enough so starting to weight train would be a good idea. i have a similar pace, as i am in the process of getting back in shape. firstname.lastname@example.org if you're interested.
WOW! With so many responses maybe we can get a running group going in Irvine. Right now I run from the Target/Mervyns' to North Lake (down the bike path) and back. With two turns around the lake it is approx. 5 miles. Is 7:30 or 8:00 pm too late for most people to run? I could also do 5:30 or 6pm.
I haven't yet but, I would love to do trail runs, do you know of any good ones near by?
I live in Santa Ana, and I just joined the Orange County Track Club. They meet in Costa Mesa, though, so it might not be a good location for you. I know there is another in Newport Beach called CalCoast Runners (a little pricey to join, though). I found them on a website called "Killer Orange." If you just Google "running clubs orange county ca" you should come up with a lot. I know that Snail's Pace Running Shop has a running club as well.
There is a very versatile trail near by. It can be ran on all flat ground or crazy hill runs. Or even in between. It is called Peter’s Canyon and it is not far from Jamboree and Irvine blvd. Here is a link that describes the trail:
If anyone is interest, we can run there Saturday morning on Aug, 4th. I know the trail very well and we can gear the workout to every ones ability. Let me know who wants to go and I will supply directions to a meeting spot that does not require a parking fee.
I would love to join the trail run. I usually bike or run in Whiting Ranch (Foothill Ranch) every weekend for couple of weeks now and have been loving it. I usually start at around 7 AM because it does get hot up there. Please keep everyone updated if you are going. My email is email@example.com.
OK, who's up for a trail run this Saturday morning? Please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. I will send out directions once we have a better idea who is interested.
I'm in! Just tell me where and when...
I am running this Saturday coming up with the Cal Coast Running Club in Newport Beach. It is the start of the OC Marathon Training, but let me know where are you guys going to run and the time and maybe I will have time after the run in Newport.
