New thread for Team Walk It Off Virtually I don't know what happened to the old message board. Look forward to seeing all new and existing members here, if you are new and want to be on this team just provide yoru name and I will add you I will also be re-posting the Instructions, that I posted in the old thread.
created our team, and I thought I would post an update and give a few pointers, I have seen a few people say that they are technologically challenged.
First some general information:
Team Leader: Angela Bush
Team Leader Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Team Name: Walk It Off Virtually
I put 35 members on our team anyone that said they were interested before today I included, if you are here and never responded please let me know that you want to be on our team and I will add you. I have to add you so you can be on the team. Your name is your screen name. I am not sure what they are using that for yet but I am sure I will find out soon enough.
Meeting Day: Please post something at least once per week before Sunday of each week, I need support on all my days good and bad. There is no bad reason not to train (let's not call it work out). My weight watcher leader told me last week a good reason not to work out is "I did not want to". I really liked that.
Training suggestion: Train 4-5 days a week, and come to the forum anytime for support. I found it helps to include your family. And you don't even realize you are actually spending quality time together with out the tv or video games. Please remember to rest and don't push yourself too far.
OK...This is what you need to do.
1. Go to Get started
2. Go to #2 "get my free online training plan"
3. Get your walk or run plan, it may redirect you if it does not work go to http://www.activetrainer.com/ . Your user id is your active.com screen name; it took me awhile to figure that out. This site offers the free and additional training plans (for a fee). After you log into active trainer you can log your work outs and get other materials if you wish to do so.
4. Don't forget to sign up for your 5K.
It's going to be my job to provide weekly updates to weight watchers, we can send photos. Please send me a photo and I can get a team collage of our photos my teenager is a master of photo shop.
I hope I did not leave anything or anyone out. And that this was nto too long.
PS I walked for 60 minutes today (3.5 miles) Anjela
Correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that the 5k is optional. You don't have to do one to qualify for the training program but you get more goodies from WW of you do
Thanks for coming, Today is my day off (wednesday and Saturaday). I did 2.5 miles in 30 minutes on the ellipitical yesterday...its kinda warm to walk its been in the mid 90's for the past two days. When its over 90I do the ellipitical.
I would like to join your virtual team. I am not very computer savy and I hope I figure out how to find you again. Please tell me what you need from me so I can join. My name is Dina and I am in New York.
Good Morning Dina,
Please follow the instruction I posted above, I added you to our team. Make sure you download the training program and remember the 5K is optional.
PS Is anyoen participatin gin the 1000 miles challenge.
Thanks for starting us up again. Hope I can find my way to you again! I walked 35 minutes yesterday, and just walked 45 minutes today. Tomorrow I'll walk 30 minutes and do one hour of senior exercises. The water in the park pool is getting warm enough for water aerobics three times a week, should be starting that next week perhaps! Have a great day! WALK ON! Sharon O.:^0
I have walked for 1 hour for the last 5 days and I am getting more sore each day, when can I expect to not feel sore? Is it necessary to skip some days, I'm afraid if I skip it will be hard to go back.
Hey, it's good to find you guys, thanks Angela for the e-mail about the new thread. I thought it was just me that was lost. I've been trying to communicate with you. I've been following the training that I was sent me. I guess I'm very much a beginner to this walking thing. Anyway I walked 15 minutes Monday & Tuesday and 20 minutes Wednesday. Today (Thurs), I have a day of rest. In addition I walked with my dog. I could never get the "route" creation part of the site to work in order to find out the miles. I don't know if anyone else had trouble, but a girl in my WW meeting last Sat, told us about a website called mapmyrun.com that would compute the mileage for your walk and I created my routes there, so in 4 days I've walked 4.17 miles. I'm just beginning this walking journey, so I feel very good about that. It's good to hear from you guys again, I'll talk to you later.
You are such an inspiration great job, I am going to do 45 minutes minutes on the ellipitical tonight. That will be about 4 miles I think. And it going to cool down into the 80's tomorrow so I will be able to walk this weekend.
Midwest~ It's important to rest for a day. Just take it slow, don't push yourself too hard. Remember if you hurt yourself you won't be walking at all!!
Do you have a walking partner that, having another person always helps you stay on track.
Anjela I would love to join your group if you still have room. With my crazy schedule I am not sure I will be able to get with a local group. My screenname is taztabboo. Let me know if you need anything else or if your full. Thanks,
