How do you like to start your day?

How do you enjoy getting up and starting your day?

Getting a good workout in--a hard run or maybe a strong bike commute to work? Or do you prefer something a little more relaxing--like yoga or stretching/meditating?

I am not a morning person. An easy run and a cup of coffee starts my day. I do my heavy training in the late afternoon.

Coffee, chill music, and the newspaper. I hate working out in the morning but it always feels awesome when I do.

I need at least 30 minutes after waking up of doing nothing/reading the paper/eating breakfast before I can workout or do any sort of exercise. 45 minutes is better. After that, I'll either ride my bike the whole way in to work or ride to the train station so I can get some Harry Potter reading in while on the train!

It takes about an hour and a half to ride in--give or take depending on lights and traffic. I live a little closer than Toby does. But the feeling after riding that long is great. I prefer it to riding home, which usually has me focused solely on dinner.

Good luck with your workouts. My advice would be to vary them so you don't wake up in the morning dreading the "same old thing."

Honestly, I do my workouts when I can make the time. For most of the year that's around noon on weekdays when I have my planning period/lunch break from teaching. A good workout followed by a light lunch seems to suit me (as does a late afternoon run before dinner on weekends). This summer I had to get up at 5 to run and it was pretty rough. I don't recommend early morning workout since the body is usually rather tight and it takes a good deal of time to properly stretch. I admit that there is a certain satisfaction to showing up for work knowing that you've already logged in serious milage (especially when you get to see how many of your coworkers need Starbuck's to wake themselves up), but I prefer the quality of workouts that occur later in the day. So I guess I like to start my day off with a hot shower followed by a bowl of yogurt, fruit, and kashi. On Saturday I begin the day by bringing my wife a homemade latte and the newspaper while she's still in bed, but that's a totally different story...

My morning routine almost never varies which suits me perfectly -

up at 2:35 am, drink 1/2 cup of coffee, 20 minutes Pilates then either run or do cross-training for an hour, hit the shower, eat a quick breakfast and head to the office by 5:30 in time to miss rush hour traffic (cuts commuting time down to 45 minutes rather than the hour and a half it takes if I leave after 6).

On Sundays I skip the pilates and eat a more leisurely breakfast and read the paper before heading to church.

Can you tell I am a morning person? There is nothing like running early in the morning when it seems like the whole world is still asleep.

Typically I start my day on the bathroom for pee pee!! hajhahahah

ok no really. I ride to work a couple dayws a week and those days are real good. other days I like to stretch.

The critical part of my start is in nutrition thoiugh. Today, I had two large scoops of fresh ground flax seed, 3 fish oils

a peice of wheat toast with peanut buitter, and a red potatoe with black coffeee. my 10:30 here we are!! I am, ROLLING!!!

thios is only my second active .com post and well I don;t quite get where everything is yet... so call it myu intro too.

sweat daily!

wow! 2:35 am. Many days I am out running past all the purple tubes in the living rooms. But I am Ironman traingin and lots of times the workouts are 3-4 hours.


2:35 than that whole routine! I am very impressed. OH and p.s I ran 11 laps around our church grounds last night for nearly 17 miles- I say that to brag about my enduranc (honesty-shocker) and to connect with a christian, or shurch person.

If I wake up early in the morning (around 5:00am)....I do streching and pilates. Then, I go for a bike ride to the beach (about 5miles) and go for a quick dip (it energizes me). I usually do my workouts during the afternoon or evenings. On the weekends, I go for long bike rides (40 miles each day).

To start my day, i love drinking a cup of carrot juice. We have a juicer at home and my mom always has fresh juices prepared. Carrot juice with a little bit of apple gets my day going.
