The best trip you've ever been on

This could be a tough one to answer, but it's always fun to hear about other's travel experiences and learn about things to do and places to see. If you have a great destination, fun travel route, must-do hike, etc. please share it

Hiking the Inca Trail with my brother Dave and my friend Brian has been hard to beat. My favorite part was the third day when we hiked in the early morning darkness to watch the sun rise from the Puerto Del Sol. The 3-day hike wanders through diverse landscape and even the hellish second-day climb was tempered by the surroundings. I almost got shot on the train ride back to Cusco and I did carry fleas all the way back to Buenos Aires, but hiking the Inca Trail remains one of the best trips I have ever been on.

I have great photos that I would love to post, however, this trip was about ten years ago and I only had a 35 mm camera back then. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can get those print images on the computer?

Vietnam!  Hands-down the best all-round country I've been to...culture, food, the people, the beach, the south china sea...it's all great!  I've been to Vietnam twice...on both trips, we visited Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and Nha Trang.  Saigon is a very busy (crazy) city with night life, high rise 5 star hotels, and top restaurants.  Nha Trang is a quiet beach side town...white sand beaches and crystal clear water.  Nha Trang is also a great location for scuba diving.  In Saigon, don't miss the Zoo...it's awesome!  I've included a few pics...

Istanbul was a pretty cool trip, visiting all of the old churches and mosques, hanging out at the Bosfurus River, and eating yummy food at night.  Thailand was amazing, everything is rally cheap, tons of natural beauty, and very friendly people.  The old temples are a sight to see,

For me, it was an incredible 3 year trip around the world with my wife. We started the begining of 1998 and finished in 2001. We went to Hawaii, fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Egypt, Greece and finally England. In New Zealand and Australia we did a cultural exchange with WWOOF. WWOOF stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms, they are all over the world. You work for 4 hours and get room and board in exchange. We worked at a horse trekking business, yoga retreat center, aloe farm as well as tradional farms throughout both countries. It was an awesome way to get to know the locals and see the real New Zealand and Australia. We also picked aplles for 6 weeks which basically paid for the whole 6 months in New Zealand. We also worked in Malaysia as raft/kayak/climbing guides for 8 months. We lived in a small town near the jungle and worked with the indigenous Malays at the rafting company. When we moved to Thailand I worked as a Dive Master in Phuket and my wife taught English for 8 months. After that we headed to Bangladesh, Nepal and India where we trekked, worked on some Peace Corps projects with a friend and took in the coulture of those countires for 4 months. Not enough by any means. After India we went to Egypt. Egypt was really hard at first because everything was set up for the package tourists and we are not that at all. But after we got into the groove we really loved it there. Three weeks was great but not enough to see all that we wanted to. Greece was so expensive, in comparison to Asia,  that we didn't stay for the original time that we had wanted and chose to go to England early as we had friends to stay with. If you were to ask me which of those places was the best I would have a hard time telling you. We really loved so many things about ever country we went to and had so many incredible adventures.

WWOOFing is awesome although it isn't every where and in some countries its better to just travel and maybe volunteer on some project if that is what you are into.

Yes, it was very hard coming back to the states, especially since we came back to Los Angeles. We had a very hard time living there because everyone is so money driven. Thank fully we were there only about 9 months before taking off again for 8 months to go to Alaska for 2 months and back to SE Asia for 6 months.

Since that time we have traveled to Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and various places in Mexico but really want to take off again. We will always have the itch to travel and really want to travel alot with our 5 year old son. Most of our travels lately have been shorter ones, 2-3 weeks, but we really want him to experience other cultures for longer periods of time. Maybe move overseas for a while, who knows.

The best trip I have ever been on was a 1 week hiking trip over the great wall of china (the less touristy parts).  Our small group camped out every night on different towers and woke up with watching the clouds roll back over the hills that stretched into Mongolia and China... will never forget it.

Had a friend that just came back from WWOOFing in South America.  Sounds awesome!  Might have to do that...
